Kodi 20.1 Wiped Clean

Thanks. Name of app?

I did. Everything was erased.

In theory, FS is a neat little device. However, when they started blocking side-loading and increased the bloatware that you cannot uninstall or disable, that did it for me. Near the end of the time I used FS, over 1 G of bloatware was taking up precious real estate on the stick. After diabling it, it would reappear. Since there is only about 5 G available, that severely restricted what I could put on it that I actually wanted to use. I’m not a fan of anything or anyone that tries for force their preferences or agendas on me. I’m glad it works for you.

FS’s are not blocked from side loading. All that Amazon has done is make their loader a protected module. Not sure why any one would spend time watching the home screen and getting annoyed. From startup to watching my live TV it takes me under 30 seconds. After that I never see any “Amazon Suggestions”. I never get ads and never have. Adding storage for apps is insanely easy. My Max always has over 3 GBs of free space with a 16GB Sandisk USB Drive attached. Runs like a dream. I use background apps and process list along with Fast Task Killer before every streaming session to give as much free Ram to my streaming session as possible. In short mine works perfectly and every customer I program the Max for enjoys their TV watching. Isn’t that what it’s all about?

All I know is the iPhone version.
There are several apps, the one I found that works the best is the “Official Kodi Remote”
Just create a note on your phone with all necessary URLs, then when needed, just open the app & the note & just copy/paste.
Some times it won’t open the keyboard automatically, just click on the keyboard icon, that’s all.
Hope that helps.

When I used the FS, Amazon absolutely did block sideloading. I too set mine up with a SanDisk USB drive and it worked well until this one software update that blocked access to the USB. That was one of the primary reasons I quit. The others was the massive amont of bloatware and connectivity issues. I was FOREVER having to power cycle my modem, router and FS. And there was way too much junk on there I had zero interest in. It served its purpose when I divorced DirecTV and had just days to get plan B up and running. Someone locally was programming FSs and charging for the programs that I now have free on my X5. The fee was much less than I had been paying DirecTV and was drastiically less than the price they were jacking me up to. I hadn’t streamed in years and wasn’t up to speed so I had to go with what was readily available. It is what it’s all about and for me that’s watching on Kodi and an IPTV.

They blocked launcher manager to keep us from custom launchers, but they have never kept anyone from sideloading apps. My guess is they will at some point in the future though. All these reasons are why I don’t use them anymore.

Sorry jawjaggal I don’t want to argue with you but Amazon has never blocked sideloading and won’t as they need developers to be able to, for good reasons, to sideliad apps. I’ve programmed and sold thousands of them. They also never blocked the access to drives. I would love to have helped you learn how to properly configure and use the Max, it’s what I like doing. GoogleTV/AndroidTV I’m afraid are going to be no different than Amazon. It’s heading the same direction with every update. I can’t speak to anyone that may have done you wrong and misled you, that’s on them, not me. I set up IPTV and other free programs like Stremio for my friends and customers, along with whatever devices and TV’s they use. Anything else they want to buy like IPTV services or VPN, I install free as per their requests then configure them. I only charge a one time and reasonable fee when they buy my sticks.
I do hope you have found your niche in this hobby and are enjoying it. gl2u.

Then don’t. I know that my USB was blocked after a software upgrade. I spoke with Firestick support and they confirmed. I asked if I could roll back to a previous software version. They said no and if I didn’t manually upgrade, after a period of time it would automatically upgrade. Nothing goes on my X5 that I don’t put there. I don’t know why you would assume that I didn’t properly set it up. Your tone is condescending. I am quite capable of doing something as simple as programming and sideloading a FS, even with an XX chromosome. I could likely disassemble and resassemble the thing and and would work properly. I don’t know why you felt the need to use my post as a platform for pushing your preferences but it was inappropriate. Nobody said anything was on you. If you want to write a post on the many advantages of FS, I’m sure that would be perfectly fine. There may even be many who agree. I am not among them. I hated the thing and was glad to get rid of it. Nothing you say can change my experience and the way I feel about it. Have a nice day.

They lied to you. All Amazon did was make it more difficult to activate developer options and thus sideloading. Once again I emphatically state that anyone saying that firesticks are blocked from sideloading are totaly mistaken and any statements to the contrary are false. I don’t know why you chose to misinterpret my reply to your incorrect statements as being condescending, that certainly was not my intent. You seem to be entrenched in your mistaken beliefs and my attempts to educate you to the contrary have fallen on deaf ears. You also misinterpreted what I said regarding the individual who ripped you off setting up your sticks. I never said or intimated that your comments were directed at me. You have chosen to make this adversarial so I’m going to stop replying.
I state most emphatically, that the world is not flat and that firesticks are not now, or have ever been, blocked from side loading apps.
I do wish you all the best. I understand your dislike of Firesticks and your desire not to use them and never once said that you should do otherwise. Nor do I desire to change that point of view as it doesn’t matter to me.
Also, just for clarity and transparency, the following link will get you to Amazons very own instructions to activate and use sideloading on FireTV. The highlighted section has the details. Now please take note, I had nothing to do with Amazon’s instructions or articles pertaining to sideloading on FireTV. This is their official site.

Thank goodness! It was either that or admin was going to shut it down. You’re the one that injected yourself as if any of us cared about your opinion. It did not pertain to the topic at hand. If you had just kept your thoughts to yourself you woudln’t have been subjected to being misinterpreted. I also see that you are infamous on this site Pretty sad, really.

Not infamous at all. Maybe misunderstood. No cause to insult me. It was you making a blatantly false statement that I had to address. Don’t forget, there are many beginners who may have read your comment and considered it the truth. So I was merely trying to help by educating. None of my answers were cause for you to take offense, but still you did. Hopefully now you do understand.
I do hope you have gotten some help for your problem and learned a little more. Have a nice weekend.

I loose all of my data if I delete kodi from my background apps in my Nvidia Sheild Pro so I always leve them their .

I didn’t inject myself in anything. I posted about an issue and reacted to a response that had nothing to do with the subject. I’ve read some of his other response and not everybody appreciates his input. Mob mentality and immature replies noted.

Happy to entertain

A rather well worded comment if I do say so myself. A sentiment, I gather from your responses, you also embrace. For additional info I also believe that Google is embracing the same philosophy.
In addition I will reiterate that Amazon has not now or ever blocked side loading.
I’m also encouraged by you reading my past posts. Lots of valuable info there.
You may also be amazed that, although I have a 4k Max, the generosity and encouragement of the “insiders” , gave me a gentle nudge into the top line product category, and I now have, and use daily, a 2019 Shield Pro.
Have a good evening jjg.
