Just how accurate is Analiti?

In a prior thread, discussing the ONN Pro, I posted photos of the Analiti display of my three streaming devices, using Analiti, to show the difference in the speed between each device. A question was posed regarding the accuracy of Analiti and if it is a true measure of the communication speed between a streaming device and Analiti. Now I do know that one gets what they pay for, and Analiti basic is free.

You will get different results from different apps and different results from the same app due to ping locations, hops taken etc. Anality Ive found is pretty accurate but if you want a better idea of speed use several test to get an average of sorts.

Which one do you use, Ron?

I think he implied, all of them?

My problem has alway been with the VPN on test and differnt devices giving diffent results.

Without VPN results are ok and seem within range

Once the vpn is on:

Ookla pretty much has me at dial up speed

Analiti has me at ok speeds but 1/2 of my non vpn speed

Speed test and another OTT platform tester have my at amazing speeds that i cant believe to be accurate.

Ive decided not to care about these test results as long as my streams arent buffering.

I pretty much stick with anality results and since I rarely buffer I actualy hardly ever do speed test and when I do its more of a vpn verification test.

Just as you said, the results are academic as long as you can stream easily with little to no buffering. Even breakneck speeds can buffer but it’s not you, it’s the source. We can only get what’s available either direct of torrents.

My reason for asking is I wanted to see if there was a consensus on the de facto best of speed test apps. It seems that there are a small variety of options. And no one is THE standard.

I’ve always used Analiti since that app is what Troy uses in his tutorials and the only speed checker in the TP toolbox. I have found a discrepancy, in the past when I’ve used the speed tester in DefSquid with the mbps indicating about half the speed indicated in the Analiti test.

My question comes about because I’m experiencing issues between VPNs. I am using Analiti to troubleshoot the speed between 3 different streaming devices that really has me baffled. I will post a new thread regarding the issues in another thread. Thank you all for the replies.

No two speed tests are the same. It depends on not only how many connections they use but where they send their data to analyze it. Different servers, different sites, different just about everything. I also stick with just Analiti and don’t use any others. That way I can have a uniform experience with results across my various vpn servers, and don’t have to worry if different tests give me different results as they always will, just the way testers are.

Are the three streaming devices in the same room or dotted around your home. I have different devices in different parts of my home ranging from right next to my router, u one floor at the opposite end of my house through a concrete floor and another outside on the terrace. Surprisingly the best speed is upstairs. Nowhere near the speeds Troy gets through Surfshark but as long as my football streams dont buffer im happy.

Miki pretty much sums it up. As for def squid, I wouldnt rely on it as it is not reliable and not 3rd party tested.

All three are side-by-side.
