Issue downloading torrents

I just got a new Windows PC

I’m having issues downloading torrents while using Surfshark.

Torrents are downloading really slow or not at all even though there are a lot of seeds.

I have a similar setup on other computers with no issues.

I can turn Surfshark off and download with no issues.

I also noticed that there are no ads being displayed in the advertisement box in bittorrent when Surfshark is on… Ads appear when I turn off Surfshark

Download speed is most limited by the source server. I get speeds anywhere from a few bps to 10 mbps.

qbittorent is much better with surfshark…but if you continue to use SS try connecting to diff servers…new york work’s best for me

If you can, maybe install SS on your router.

Use WireGuard protocol.
Change servers.

Switching from Wireguard to TCP has fixed the issue

If you have premiumize or real debrid or some service like that. You can try jdownloader. It usually speed up downloads.
Just have to set up your account. It might take you a minute to figure it out.

Usually (from my experience) it is the other way around.
Depends on the server farm I guess.
Great news you got it working.

I use Wireguard UDP over Wireguard TCP. Wireguard UDP is usually faster for streaming.

Just curious… why do you download rather than stream?

vpn app on the workstation can slow performance far more than vpn-wireguard on the upstream routing device.

I prefer to pay a cloud intermediary to take the drive flogging

when i did download I used a thunderbolt enclosed nvme behind mullvad wireguard

if you really must install the vpn app on the workstation bind the BT app to the wireguard interface (in qBittorrent)

does surfshark block P2P in any datacenters?

And I’ve read you might get better performance setting protocol manually in SS instead of leaving it on automatic. Though for me, I’m not having any problems so automatic it is.

I think the setting may depend on your ISP and what their infrastructure is like. After extensive testing and setup I found my setup worked best with Wireguard UDP. This is just one of those things that relys on ppl doing their own testing to find the “Sweet Spot”.
