I can sit and read down through the VIP features, but would love to get some real-life feedback to whether the $2.50/month is worth the investment. In addition to that, what the heck is the VIP EP lol? For double the money you get something else that nobody seems to know what it is???
just my opinion is thats too expensive but then again I really hardly ever use the free service. But if you are realllllly into trakt …go for it or think of it like this what if trakt disappeared tomorrow…hmmm how much would I be out
Not that I want another monthly fee to remember, but Trakt is very cool and remarkably useful. Of all the apps and services that we use around here, I would say Trakt would be the least likely to vanish into thin air lol. I guess my original question isn’t if Trakt is good or worth using, I’m wondering if the benefits of the VIP membership are great enough above the Free Trakt to justify the monthly cost.
I would love to hear from anyone who gets the VIP for a specific feature, what that feature is and why they can’t live without it.
@AMD237 I purchased the annual Trakt VIP for $30 but will admit I haven’t taken advantage of all it offers and mainly have used it to Bulk Copy/clone others users lists into my own account. But it sounds like you are super into it and therefore maybe worth checking out. There is a VIP Forum that appears to be very active with a lot of advanced users (similar to Troypoint.) While I am not as active there is here the few posts/questions I’ve made were answered quickly and competently. I know I’m only scratching the surface of what can be done with Trakt but if you are really into finding out what else you could do I think the VIP Forum would Help. I’ll post a screenshot. As to the $60 VIP Executive Producer it is strange but I can’t find any info on it not even searching the VIP Forum
Trakt recently made some sweeping changes for free users. This is a significant limitation, but it is still usable. If you don’t want to deal with these setbacks, then you can throw a bunch of money at them lol! (VIP is way too expensive in my opinion)
The biggest changes for free users: only two personal lists of up to 100 items, and watchlist and collection items now limited to 100 items.
As of now if you have more than two personal lists, or if you have more than 100 items in a list, just know that those lists don’t magically get deleted. You simply just won’t be able to create any new personal lists or add new items to a list with more than 100 items in it.
Below is a post that summarizes the Trakt Free user experience moving forward:
Freemium Experience: More Features for All
As we continue to enhance and refine the Trakt experience, we’d like to announce updates to our standard features, designed to ensure a smoother and more efficient platform for all users.
Changes for Free Users
Collaborative list-making is now accessible to everyone! Plan a movie night with your friends and have everyone add a “must-see” to the list!
The “Watch now” filter is available on all user pages, including history, progress, collection, ratings, and lists. Still struggling to find where your favorite shows or movies are streaming? Not anymore!
“Watch now” email notifications available for everyone. Stay updated on your favorite streaming content with a daily or weekly email digest!
100 personal notes are available to all Trakt users. Add notes to your list items, activities, and media items! Want to remember who you watched something with? Add a note to that item in your watched history! Want to note who recommended that movie to you? Add a note to that movie in your watchlist! Other note ideas can be found here.
Favorites list item limit increased for everyone. Instead of 50 items, your favorites list now can have up to 100 items.
Reduced List and Item Limits: Free users will see a reduction to 2 personal lists up to 100 items.
Watchlist and Collection Limits: Free users are now limited to 100 items in their watchlists and collections, down from previous limits.
Why These Changes?
These updates aim to balance the needs of our diverse user base while ensuring the performance and stability of our platform. We are committed to maintaining a robust and efficient service for everyone, with fair usage limits.
Moving Forward
We appreciate your feedback and understanding as we continue to evolve Trakt. Our goal is to provide a superior experience for both free and VIP users, and we are always open to suggestions on how to improve our services. Thank you for being part of the Trakt community!
Looks like you either cull your lists or pay $60 a year.
I only use the watchlist feature so I don’t really need the extra features.
MDBList offers 4 free lists with a very sizeable amount of items per list.
They do have a pay structure but it isn’t something I have looked into.
