Is there an iptv player that can be installed on a roku tv

That’s actually sad news. Gonna be a huge influx of Firestick users over to (probably) Onn devices.

Best option for iptv on roku is having a home server. I use Emby on roku and import my iptv from my server into roku…works great. Ive found iptv players offered on roku are junk.

That’s a good example but you’re an advanced user, would be more hoops to jump through for the novice. The Android box is simple to set up, but I hear a lot of people that still prefer Roku for streaming. I don’t, but everyone is different. I also have found a way another way to use iptv by putting an m3u file on a flash drive and then opening it with the Roku’s media player. Not great, but it works in a pinch.

For us older folks
Two areas where Roku excels: (1) Really great CC-Closed Captions (2) Search features, easy and inclusive.
I often watch verified apps on my Roku to enjoy the improved CC feature.
I picked up an HDMI switcher so I quickly change from Roku to Nvidia with the press of one button.

You can use emby on roku with an iptv sub, just keep emby on a vpn if you do.

Did not know EMBY works on Roku and can have an IPTV subscription in it.

Yes it works. Also the free Jellyfin will work on Roku. Clients | Jellyfin

Will need to teach myself about both clients. Looks like the NEXTPVR plugin for JELLYFIN is an older version and does not work consistent. We use NEXTPVR with KODI client, which does not run on ROKU. There always seems to be a catch.

If I try EMBY that is a $120 lifetime license to allow a NEXTPVR client.

Bottom line is we can just rarely use a third party IPTV client on ROKU, and pray we do not get flagged by the stream provider for simultaneously using the stream in two clients (same IP address).

Good learning mental gymnastics for how this all works or doesn’t. Lol.

What I do is combine all my iptv subs on a server(mini pc) using xteve, I filter out the channels I dont want and then re-stream to which ever clients I want to use(currently I use sparkle, tivimate and emby) When you re-stream it is seen as one stream no matter how many times you are using it. There are other methods to the madness but it works.
