Looking for closed captioning. Troy talked about possible security related issues in the past. I sure would appreciate any suggestions… thanks!
Not sure about this other than your closed caption options and quality will depend on your iptv service. Maybe some others familiar with this issue can chime in as I haven’t had any security issues in this regard.
Thanks for your response…
I want some info on how to enable it externally to work with my IPTV. I came across a guide, but the line you entered in the Downloader app didn’t work.
I don’t get subtitles with my bilt-in player but i do with paid version of Tivimate. You have to enable subtitles for all shows in player and your good to go.
I have the paid version of tivimate. How do I enable?
THANK YOU
When watching a channel click your “OK” button then click down once, then scroll right until you see the CC square down the bottom and click it to go from off to on.
I tried to send you an email but it bounced back.
Follow what Miki said, yep.
Thanks for the updates. There are Kodi add ons that I use such as Umbr..La and Dream. They have similar cc boxes as tivimate but will not work without a subscription for a paid service. Troy mentioned last year that some of these paid services were not trustworthy. The reason for my inquiry was to check with the insiders to see if they can recommend a paid service this year that I can trust…. Thanks again for your invite. As info, I was asked to add Troypoint in my address book…done.
Unless I’m mistaken that closed captioning is different than subtitles most KODI Addons including Umbrella contain Free closed captioning (subtitles). Long press to bring up menu, then scroll left. 3rd option on the left will have subtitles. Keep in mind not all streams will have subtitles and if they do may not be in the language you want. But I’d say 90% of the time if not more you can find English subtitles. I rarely use them but if it’s a UK based show I always do
Thank you… appreciate the help.
2006 . America becomes the first country in the world to require all new television programs, with few exceptions, be closed captioned. The CMP becomes the Described and Captioned Media Program (DCMP), offering educational media that is not just captioned for the deaf but also described for the blind.
IMO - Roku devices have the best CCs by far of any device I’ve tried
Stremio and Kodi have the best CCs among apps.
All of the above have multiple settings and adjustments. I also find CCs without adjustments vary from device to device with Roku clearly better on verifiable apps, if you watch any of those FAST or PAST apps.
I use the available cc whenever possible. I believe Troy mentioned a site you could purchase like subtites.com but he felt it wasn’t safe. I was wondering if he knew of a site like it that was safe.
I really appreciate your taking the time to help… thanks.
Please see my post above. You mentioned you use Umbrella. All the KODI addons have cc via subtitles. They are Free and safe
This is a Huge option for me too. Have serious hearing issues so accessibility is topmost importance. Can’t seem to find much info either way
Running an Nidia box on a Samsung Crystal. Settings show ”captions” but can’t ever get for regular programming. Any help appreciated!!

What player are you using? I use Tivimate and while watching a program, I click the OK button then the down arrow when the lower popout shows, then scroll right to CC and click to turn it on.
Troy has a wonderful tutorial for subtitles on the Troypoint site. This may help folks that have been struggling to get subtitles to work.
