When using stremio app my vpn disconnects can anyone help?
I am not sure it’s the fault of Stremio that imho is one of the best and most solid apps out there. IPV can do that way too often but I see it less on their V4 in the last week or so. They need a kill switch. They don’t have it. It’s the reason I am about to jump ship and test SS. They have it.
I can’t help you with the problem but, Welcome to insider.
the only suggestion I have is to make sure your device, Stremio, and IPVanish are updated. In the case of IPV I know they suggest a complete uninstall and fresh install.
I find it interesting that so many people say IPV is disconnecting for them. I’ve never once had that issue. I use the background apps and processes app as a task killer, but I have IPV whitelisted so it never closes. Are you sure you don’t have a task killer automatically closing stuff?
How would I know if I have task killers sorry I’m a rookie
I reinstalled both with the latest versions. Worked for a day or two but it is doing it again
I have 2nd gen fire tv box. It didn’t automatically upgrade. Do I need to manually update?
I really can’t say what you should or shouldn’t do. I’m a guy that believes updates aren’t purposefully done to aggravate us or cause us issues but rather to improve app compatability and device security. So I always update everything. But it’s up to you.
Have fun and stream on.
Hello @Docmoser when I see people mentioning that their VPN is disconnecting I always ask if their Internet service is cutting out. If your Internet drops then more than likely your VPN app will also stop working. I suggest at least going into IPVanish settings and making sure that auto-reconnect is checked. Also, try unplugging router, cable modem and streaming device from power for 10 minutes and then plug back in. This will reset everything and hopefully help.
I agree to both these statements, @Docmoser when i had ipv it never disconnected unless my internet was bugging out. My advice would be to really look into if your isp supplied modem is running into packet loss along with flaps. If you lose any packet for a second on and off it will disconnect you fast but you may not see it at all if it reconnects, but it will shut off your vpn.
If you are unsure of how to check this call your isp tech support and ask to run a diagnostic of your service. (Line noise, flaps, right channel)
My modem is netgear C7000 not supplied by isp
