I did not see a post in the TP archives on this topic due to the parameters/specifics of my issue:
Wondering if anyone has the same setup and is experiencing the same issues as I as of late (1.5 weeks). Have IPVanish and Comcast as my ISP (1G) all running through Nvidia Shield’s (pro and “tube” versions) which are ethernet connected. Over the last 2 weeks have seen significant signal degradation with IPV “on” (900Mbps w/o to 30Mbps with IPV on) and have tried the typical troubleshooting techniques (protocols, cities/countries, restarting router/devices, hand selecting servers based upon load/ping, deleted and reloaded app, etc.) to no avail. Contacted IPV customer support and other than the usual troubleshooting techniques the only other “solution” they provided is supposedly Comcast/Xfinity is now “masking” your IP address in a manner similar to a VPN which is the reason for the huge signal loss according to IPV (would never trust this even if the statement came from Comcast directly). Here is the “kicker” I also have Nord as a backup VPN and nothing has changed with their service and download speeds remain great with Nord.
This is the same problem with all 4 TV’s all running IPVanish and Nvidia devices. Wondering if any of you can think of anything beyond the standard VPN troubleshooting ideas that may fix my issue.
Ive never used ipvanish so just looking at standard things. Have you tried another ethernet cord from router to box? Also try another hdmi cable. Try it even tho another box on those same wires might act different.
Surfshark did the same thing with me yesterday on spectrum. To be fair I tried a few other locations and my speed improved on some and lower than normal on some.
I have never had this happen with surfshark until yesterday. Could be many different reasons this happened but it did happen for the 1st time.
I did update from 3.1 to 3.2 from troypoint with the downloader.Speed seems ok now.
Just some kind of glitch, dunno.I hope that’s all it was. Just wanted to let ppl know in case it happens to you…
Like I said all seems to be fine now.
@emcpheet We’d like to help further diagnose this. Can you drop us a line at management@ipvanish.com from your account email? We look forward to hearing from you.
I don’t know what else I could tell l you. I checked my speed and it was half of what it usually get running the vpn. without vpn on i get 550 to 600. There are many reasons for this i am sure probably locations
I was on my Buzz classic. I turned off and on the modem and router still had slower speeds. It usually showed 85 to 140 mpbs but was showing 35 to 45.
I downloaded ver 3.2 and reboot the system and speeds were back up like they were.
Like i said it could have been many reasons this happened besides the SW itself. All is fine now
