Hey guys I’m somewhat new here. Ive been signed up for a couple years now just don’t post a whole lot on Insider. But I thought this would be post worthy. I’m curious if this is happening to anyone else.
I’ve been getting phone calls from an imposter IPTV service asking me to renew my IPTV subscription because it expired. They are claiming to be Apollo Group Tv. This is the third time it has happened to me. I haven’t had a sub to Apollo Group TV for like 2 years now but somehow they know my sub is expired. I went ahead and reported this issue to ApolloGroupTv customer service on their website. They told me it’s definitely a scam because they don’t have a direct phone number. They handle all of their customer support via their instant messaging service on their website.
Has anyone else received a phone call from this ApolloGroupTV imposter or am I the only one?
That is definitely disconcerting. For them to have that specific info you have to wonder what else they have.
OP be suspicious of all emails, and calls etc. Someone leaked your info and I’m sure that won’t be the last scammer to use it. With so many hacks all of our info is out there to some extent, and the scammers are getting better at piecing it all together and pretty creative at using it.
I’ve been wondering the same thing because I never had any reason to enter my phone number on their website when I use to use their service. They never asked for it and nowhere on their site does it require you to enter your phone number. Only thing I can think of is my information got leaked during that big data leak when AT&Ts servers got hacked back in April and June. I have AT&T as my phone service.
I was with them for a while and let the sub lapse. Shortly thereafter, I received a phone call from someone claiming to be them. It almost seemed the conversation was AI of some sort? They wanted me to renew, I did not. I figured it was Apollo considering I just left them? I’m not sure what to think now, LOL.
