This is why Troy couldnāt recommend it for Andoid TV. Until recently Proton VPN on Android TV didnāt even have a Protocol option. I complained to them about this for Month after month. It does have a killswitch on phones and Tablets but not streaming devices. On my Shield Pro I still use Proton as it has so many brick and morter servers and is very robust. It also has no negative impact on my speeds. I use the VPN Safety Dot to ensure it is always active.
Thanks Miki. I do use the monitor dot because I love my Proton VPN for the same reasons you mention and more, and really canāt afford the expense of another VPN. Just wish I didnāt have to monitor the monitor dot and shut down TiviMate/Stremio/other apps just in case the VPN drops or the Shield reboots itself (which it has if there is a blip in the power grid). But I suppose it is a good practice anyway. I am on gigabit fiber directly into the house, but for some reason I still experience seriously annoying buffering issues with IPTV on TiviMate and I canāt figure out why. I thought perhaps it might be the VPN connection but probably the IPTV provider I guess.
How do you run your VPN through your router? Thanks
Hi Ricky, sorry for the delayed response. I do not run the VPN via the router, just directly via the app. I thought about doing it via the router, but I didnāt because I wanted the flexibility to choose different country/state connections via the app vs having to change router settings. Hope that helps.
I use WireGuard native app and Iām connecte 24/7 and never craps on me
connects on boot up auto ā¦To be honest I only use VPN for surfing on my Win Laptop and use apps on my device shield when needed
