I think that I'm completely done with Stremio

So I gave away my FS 4K to a friend when his 2nd gen FS crapped out.
I set him up with Stremio using my RD API key so that his wife could easily access movies that she wanted to see. Everything worked well for a few months.

THEN, yesterday he calls and says that he’s getting ‘no streams available, invalid REal Debrid code’. So I check it out at home, and sure enough, I get the same error. (My RD account is paid up through July, 2023.) I go to Torrentio’s settings & check the key…it matches what I entered a while ago. Again, I get the invalid key error.

At this point, I use my computer to log into my RD account and check my API key, and sure enough it’s been changed. OK, I think my problem is solved.

I go back to Stremio>torrentio>torrention’s settings & deleted the old key and then carefully typed the new key and hit “Enter”. STILL the invalid RD code error. I repeated the process, just in case I misplaced a character, but no joy. I’ve done the uninstall/reinstall dance with the app & torrentio and that doesn’t work either. I’m not interested in paying for Orion, so I’m done with Stremio for awhile unless there’s an easy fix.

I don’t think this is Stremio’s fault. I believe this has to do with RD and their regulations. Maybe IP Address restrictions or account sharing or such. I have RD in Stremio and have had it for a couple of years now without issue. Stremio though works perfectly without RD or premium service and for me finds a ton of sources.

I use Stremio daily WITHOUT RD and it works great. No anything debrid or trakt necessary. Just Torrentio.

Got it… slipped my attention.

It looks like RD has blocked your account for sharing violation. You’ll probably have to set up an new account. Lets hope they haven’t blacklisted your IP address if you using a static IP, if you’re not on a static IP I’d suggest rebooting your router to get a new IP address before setting up a new account.

A few years ago I did read something that the original IP address has to stay the same for the account. If they see a different IP show up then they will think it is being shared and they don’t like that. This happened to me when I was trying to set up a box for a firnd and used my RD log in to get things going until he could activate his new account. I got an immediate response from them telling me this was a no-no.

I didn’t get any notice; I’m not gonna stress over it. The RD links still are working well using my current favorite Kodi addon.

I use my RD account from multiple IP addresses (locations) but not at the same time - that’s where you violate their rule and maybe get blocked. Stremio works without RD but you need a VPN as they are pretty much all Torrent files.

Encountered a similar problem using Premium with Torrentio - msg was “No streams found”. I went to the installed add ons screen, double clicked on Torrentio, then the configure button. Cloudflare, which they use for a content provivider, didn’t like my ip address, so I went to surfshark and connected to a different server. Bingo - that fixed it.

This is the right way to go about it. Torrentio’s developer is manually blocking tons of VPN/data center IP ranges, it’s a gamble whether it works or not. A clear sign of being blocked is that the addon simply won’t load at all. Everything else, like error messages when starting a Torrentio stream for example, is related to the device of the user or the debrid service of the user and has nothing to do with Stremio itself.

Stremio is merely a platform, it can be thought of as a canvas that needs to be filled and doesn’t do anything on its own. It’s like a neat graphic interface. Every single thing provided, every stream, every link, is not from Stremio itself, but from the various addons.

Thank heavens they haven’t blocked all servers. I am still finding tons of Torrentio RD+ and PM+ sources, but with Comet and Media fusion RD & PM, as an example, I find myself relying less and less on Torrentio. If they want to be that way then let them. More than enough options available. It’s just that we’ve become so reliant on them ppl rarely go the extra mile and change. Also there are many ppl who find the Stremio bootstraper working flawlessly for them.

So, the “bootstrapper” is Stremio’s equivalent of a Kodi build? I have Torrentio+RD, Comet+RD, TPB+ and MediaFusion (no RD) plus several other addons in my Stremio setup. I take it the “bootstrapper” wouldn’t give me any improvement on these?

You have a great setup. Bootstrapper is not for you!

Bootstrapper is for easy and quick access to Stremio. Integration of debrid services is easy and the app handles it for you. Within 5 minutes after downloading Stremio and logging in, you’re ready to go, even if you’ve never seen Stremio before. Later, you can add additional add-ons as your experience builds. Kodi ? Not so fast!

AIO (all in one) is another app that sets up Stremio but it’s much more involved, better for more experience users.
