That doc is from a Facebook group where I am a admin. John M did a great job on it.

So glad my IPTV provider uses a proprietary app and NOT Tivimate. The hype here about Tivimate has been strong but it sounds like it’s a big mess now

Very odd. I use TiViMate daily and have absolutely no issues. Nothing has changed for weeks or months. Functioning just fine.

Cool glad it’s working for you @Miki. I don’t use it anymore as my IPTV service has it’s own app. just reading some of the comments in this thread it sounds like it’s gone downhill fast and Sparkle and others are now better. Just glad I don’t need to use it anymore. Have a great day!

There’s definitely been a few changes since 4.7.0
I had no problem directing my recordings to external usb and with one of the recent updates I can only record to internal storage. Someday I’ll have to revert back and setup all over again if they don’t fix it.

I believe it was @Powerfader who told me about sparkle a long time ago and I purchased it. It had a feature that I wanted that tivivimate did not and that was sparkle recognized my homerun tuner to make it easy to add antenna channels…and as pointed out here timeshift(which I really dont use). I did reach out to tivimate (back in the day :joy:) about adding the features I wanted and got nothing…that being said…Tivimate is still the best imho and its what I use(along with channels dvr). Great vid Troy about sparkle as it is a top player and deserves mention. My only gripe is it has to be tied to google in order to use it. Sign out of the playstore and poof goes sparkle.

I always disable the playstore because it doesn’t matter how often I force stop it, 2 minutes later it’ll be running in the background again and yes with my paranoia, I can’t imagine what type of info it’s collecting while running and how much resources it’s using. Now I have 2 apps that won’t work without it enabled, Sparkle and Debrid Stream. Bummer :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I’ve literally tried them all, had sparkle for almost a year and barely used it. For me tivimate is my go too. Timeshift is a great feature but Sparkle is much more clunky to use at least for me it was.

If they could combine the features of the two apps into one it would be amazing.

For now I’ll stick with tivimate, having a provider with solid catch up eliminates the need for time-shifting.

And to think I’m no expert. So the complaints are most likely just lack of experience. Had Sparkle gone wih some other payment than Google I would certainly try it. Is it pay per year or do they have lifetime now? Sure hope they add more features like TiVimate has and then I could see it being competition for Tivi. Have a great weekend @MarkxG.

I saw yesterday that Tivimate raised their price to 11 something a year on renewals .

I bought lifetime about 3 yrs ago. $20 for Sparkle lifetime is a great deal.

Not sure what I did wrong, I never was asked to pick a password for Sparkle even after I paid for lifetime. I can not get it to open past where you add Xtreme code and info.

ā€œCorrectionā€ Dumb PapaS, got Sparkle to work with play store disabled by signing in using the shared account method. :person_shrugging::rofl:

It’s great that we all have choices. For me, Tivimate is everything I could ever wish for in a player and more. I have automatic updates turned off for my apps and I don’t think I’ve ever updated Tivimate since first installing it last May. It works flawlessly.
