How to set up folder I Xplore app to schedule recordings from TiviMate

Could someone please point me to the right direction on how to set up a folder in Xplore app for scheduled recordings from TiviMate. I have looked in topics and am having trouble finding help. System picker does not work for me. I can record a show that is coming on but not daily recordings.
I appreciate all that you do!

What device are you using @zaneejanee . I am going to do my best to walk you through this. I assume you already have X-plore installed. One of the first things to do immediately is to grant permissions. So you will go to your settings>apps>See all apps>X-plore and click on it>scroll to the bottom and click “Permissions” >then click on Files and media>then click “Files and media” and then click “Allow all the time”. Now there will be 2 panels. Now I do not jave added storage so I’ll wait to hear back from you before carrying on

You need to tell us what system you are trying to record on (eg firestick, Android XX, etc.). It is also important to know the format type of the external drive you are using (Fat32, exFat, NTFS, other).

I am using a MeCool Box with 132 for storage

So the MeCool Box has 132 GBs of internal storage. Well opening X-plore you will have 2 panels, one on the left and one on the right. I always do my changes in the left panel, no reason, just the way I do it. So with TiVimate installed when you open X-plore you will see the “Internal Shared Storage” on the left. When you scroll down you will see a Tivi folder and if you highlight it and then long press the enter button, a whole pop-up panel will open showing you options you can choose, and on this case, near the bottom will be “New folder” which you can click and then give it a name like Recordings. I also have one simply called backup as then I will always have a backup of TiViMate settings/configuration that I can transfer to a usb drive in case I want to transfer my Tivimate setup onto another device or in case I’m forced to do a factory reset.
So now you have your basic folders. Now the quickest way to do the next step is to open Tivimate and then open the left side panel and click “Recordings”. This opens a full screen that is mostly blank accept the left side icons, but what we do now is click the right direction of the remote navigation ring, which now opens “Recordings :gear:” on the top right. Click up, once to highlight the gear and then hit the enter button. You are now in your Recording and we are going to set up to record to Tivi>Recording. This is the folder we made in X-plore. So now we click on Recordings folder>select folder>scroll down and click Tivi>Recording> then click Select on the right. And that should be it. Now your Recording folder should have a path like /storage/emulated/0/Tivi/Recording.
Now it should have been close to the same if you use the “System picker”. So in Internal Shared Storage click “System picker”. Now a different sort of doc tree opens up with a bunch of folder names displayed. Click Create New Folder and name to what ever you want. Hit enter on the remote. Now a new window pops up and down the bottom you have to click “Use This Folder” then follow the on screen prompts. Then if you back out of all this and open X-plore. You should find a seperate folder on the left with the name you just called it when you created it. That’s two ways of doing it. Ok question time. :joy:

Let us know if you get it working or need any help.

I finally did get my recording to work. It did not work with the instructions, stated that I should do it, though. According to instructions in the.Xplore app I was to open the Android folder then media and créate a TiviMate folder. It allowed me to do that but then it would not allow me to record to it. It kept saying recording failed. Strangley enough I opened the Download folder and created a folder named Recordings and it allowed me to do a backup and it is recording programs. Go figure! Thank you to every one for the help.

Great! I have an Android 14 box where I also have TiviMate recording to Download/Recordings on internal. I also extended internal storage with a 1/2 TB thumb drive to give extra storage. Your 128 of ROM should hold quite a few recordings though.

I have 132 gig on My MeCool box. Just curious , do you know why I could not record to media per the original directions?

It could be some sort of permissions issue, I am not sure. Android/media should be open and writable because I have also used that folder on other boxes. Android/data is off limits on a lot of boxes and both Sparkle and XCIPTV (TiviMate alternatives) put their recordings in subfolders of data.

I’m a little perplexed because I have two me cool boxes, identical, one of the living room and one in the bedroom. Everything is set up the same. One allows me to open media and put TV made in there and it will record from there and the other won’t. Go figure.

I remember a discussion we had with zaneejanee before where we found out that system picker doesn’t exist with the MeCools – at least the models used by us.

Hmmm could be. That’s why I gave the method using X-plore, which worked for me. And hello @carlbs , have a good day.

Same to you Miki. Just got in from shoveling 10" of heavy wet snow. That was a good write up by the way.

Holy crap, more snow. I saw the US was getting one last winter storm. God I hate winter.

Minneapolis. Should melt in a couple of days hopefully. Mexico days are over ha?

We couldn’t afford the medical expense. With Covid it skyrocketed to $1500/mth and rent doubled in 2 years. Everything went sky high in price.

Seems same thing is happening in the lower states…prices are going up faster than we can afford them

I’m back! I have done everything right. I even created a backup and I see it in Android/Media and file I created named TiviMate. The backup shows successful back up and I see the file. If I record something on a different channel for later, it works if I schedule a recording, it does not work. Why are the scheduled recordings not working? I need help guys. I’m ready to slip my throat.
