The following tutorial provides step-by-step instructions to Install VPN Privacy Dot on Firestick, Fire TV, and Android. VPN Privacy Dot is a tool used by cord-cutters and streamers to verify their VPN Connection status on any streaming device. This includes the Amazon Firestick and Fire TV which are the most popular media devices available today.…
I’m sorry to inform you that the Downloader short code indicated in the tutorial does not link to VPNPrivacyDot. It links to VPNMonitorDot instead. However, the Troypoint ToolBox install link does still work. Neither of these apps work 100% the way they are supposed to. Many times I’ve found they will show a green indicator as if your VPN is connected, when it actually isn’t. Their green indicator will however, show a stutter or quirky movement when they have been compromised. And usually it is your ISP that is responsible for the compromised status. Although these apps are referred to as monitors, you as the user have to be vigilant in monitoring their working state. Stay safe everyone.
VPNMonitorDot has never failed me in the over 2 years I’ve had it.
Congrats Miki on a never failing VPNMonitorDot. Perhaps your ISP service doesn’t scrutinize your internet use as it does others who’ve reported issues. I wish you continued success.
Thank you for your well wishes. So sorry you are having issues with an APP I have found to be dependable. It happens. Unfortunately I also don’t have any suggestions for you but perhaps with experimentation you will find a comparable app that will meet your needs. Not sure what exactly my ISP scrutinizing my VPN protected stream and an encrypted DNS would accomplish but they are certainly welcome to have a look.
Have fun and stream on.
Is this the same as a VPN status indicator like IPVanish has?
You said “Many times I’ve found they will show a green indicator as if your VPN is connected, when it actually isn’t.”
One of the installation notes on my website MonitorDot.com explains this:
“If Monitor Dot is displaying a Green dot even when the VPN is disconnected, check to see if your VPN has it’s “Kill Switch” feature enabled. If it does, then the green dot is proper because the kill switch feature is protecting you by not allowing your device to access the internet.”
The installation notes also explain that my Monitor Dot simply asks the device’s operating system if a VPN is running properly on the device to determine if it should display a green or red dot. So, if Monitor Dot is displaying green, then that means the VPN is telling the device’s operating system that it is running properly. It’s impossible for an ISP to directly control/compromise my Monitor Dot app. Your ISP can only compromise the VPN connection, and then it’s up to your VPN app to detect this compromise and report to the operating system that it is NOT running properly, which will then notify Monitor Dot to display a RED dot.
