While the most popular method of using the Stremio application is for viewing on demand media (Movies/Shows), users can also install addons such as USA TV to enjoy live television channels. This guide provides insight for installing, setting up, and using USA TV to stream live tv within the Stremio App and enjoy your favorite…
I just tried this and the addon to my account was successful but when I went to my streaming device (onn 4k pro) and selected addon, there was no prompt to sync addons. How do I get it on my streaming device?
The Stremio GUI and the web-based add-on manager GUI have both changed. It looks like the install guide published by Troypoint is obsolete. It needs to be updated. Please do. I love Stremio. It’s my new favorite replacing Syncler.
The official addons haven’t really changed, just the community addons site which the Stremio Dev has nothing to do with and does not support or recommend any of those addons.
Sad news. I really would have liked USA TV addon to stremio.
Sorry @Bob11 but what is sad news? You can still install all the community addons. They just aren’t supported by the dev.
Thanks for the links, @Miki but I ran the installs from the link and they installed on my account but I cannot get it to show up on my streaming device.
After installing a new addon on one device and then using it on another device, it’s best to shut stremio down, force close, and clear cache. Then reboot/restart your device and the adddon should now show on any devices where you are logged onto Stremio with the same account.
Thanks @Miki ! I saw a URL in the instalation on my account. I entered that as an addon on my steaming device and it worked. Thanks for your help
Use share addon and type this in https://848b3516657c-usatv.baby-beamup.club/manifest.json
FWIW: I was visited many times by the Fat Cat while trying to watch USA TV channels on Stremio. I downloaded VLC player then went to Stremio settings, selected Player then external player, then selected a stream. When the popup menu appeared, I was asked to choose a player to open the stream. I highlighted VLC and clicked on ‘always’. It’s not bullet proof, but I have far less visits from the Cat while watching USA TV channels on Stremio. VLC doesn’t work well when watching Stremio movies or series, so I have to switch to the internal player for those, and back to external player (VLC) for US TV channels. Works for me.
Live TV has never been a forte of Stremio. I use Tivimate for that.
Thanks as always for the guide. I didn’t even know USA tv was still around I used it for years, years ago. I did everything and it’s all up, however, it keeps leaving the stream I’m in and going back to the channel selection. Is there something else I need to do to keep the stream going or is that a known issue? Thanks in advance.
I added USA TV and when I went to play Stranger Things, NetFlix popped up wanting $7.99 a month?
I have problems with Tivimate, WAVE, IPTV Smarters Pro, and any others I’ve tried. I get freezing, buffering and disconnects with all of them, so I try to get as many alternatives for IPTV as I can. VLC on Stremio works about as well or possibly better than those others, at least for me. I have adjusted settings on KEMO IPTV, Surfshark, onn, modems and everything else. When I want to watch live TV, I want quick ways to do it. If it gets to the point where I have to troubleshoot and try various adjustments, I usually just give up. At the end of the day, I think that my Mediacom internet is the problem, but I don’t have many options. Thanks for your suggestion, but I have many problems with Tivimate and all the others.
That’s because USA TV is for live TV channels. Not streaming content like Stranger Things
Does anyone know what the different selections mean to the right of the video quality are? I’d love to be able to find the local channels to me, although I’m thinking that isn’t possible. I’m setting up a box for a friend
The buffering, freezing and disconnects sounds like your IPTV provider, not the player. I’d check out Troy’s topic on the inexpensive service. I use it on MyTVOnline on my Formuler box and never have any stutters in playback whatsoever.
