Happy mods
Pretty much every version I’ve downloaded had this issue with Microsoft Defender and AV. Had to jump through hoops to get it downloaded. Something off there!
Uninstalled the non-functioning 1.1.3 and installed 1.1.5 (in the USA). Still not working - same spinning circle on all options.
I hadn’t been using ‘UK Turks’ for quite awhile. The version I had was ‘1.1.2’. I think I wasn’t particularly interested in having to go get codes that were only good for 3 hrs. at a shot (and it wasn’t even working at that).
I DID, however, have LOTS of ‘FAVORITES’ saved for old movies, etc. so I was googling to see if these can somehow be retained when updating to a newer version. It seems absurd that this would not be possible, but unlike majority of the ‘movie/TV’ apps that let you ‘backup’ to a folder on your streaming device (and ‘restore’ to the updated app version) … I see nothing in ‘UK Turks’ Settings to accomplish this!! I STILL DON’T KNOW IF IT IS TRULY THAT STUPIDLY DESIGNED. Anyone know what I can do?
Anyway, while trying to find info about this, I saw many Reddit comments that it hadn’t even been working for sometime, rumors it had been shut down, etc. … but just as quickly discovered that this ‘1.1.5’ version just came out and was working (for most people, anyway) and to sideload it from APKTime. I quickly discovered I had to UNINSTALL my older version first (F*ck! There go all my saved ‘favorites’!)!
Well, it was no longer functioning now, so I bit the bullet and uninstalled the app on my three FireStick 4K’s (2 standard & 1 MAX, 1st Gen.). Download from ‘APKTime’ now worked properly. I then took the time to save a bunch of ‘Favorites’ (again) before I went onto my MAX stick. Now I’m thinking this is SO dumb that I have to go through and re-save all the SAME ‘favorites’ AGAIN! Why is there no simple way to ‘transfer’ these when you have multiple devices?
But before going through this again, I realized I hadn’t remembered to do a VirusTotal scan on my first stick. I’m thinking that since I got these from ‘APKTime’ it shouldn’t be an issue … because I’ve always been told that these big app stores make a point of saying they ‘run virus & malware scans’ on all their apps’ before making them available in their stores!
** Imagine my shock when I my VirusTotal app found ‘22’ cases of malware in this brand new ‘UK Turks’ app!! WTF! “WTH, ‘APKTime’!!”
I later came across ‘Troy’s’ just posted article (June 6th?) on downloading this new version, where he is actually aware that it comes riddled with malware … then merely says 'to always run a VPN when using … (blah-blah). Well, I generally do. But how is my VPN (SurfShark basic, btw) going to protect me now that this infested app is installed on my FireStick??
This reminds me of when the original ‘Applinked’ developer sold his app to new people and the very next version came riddled with malware! At the time, everyone was warning users to immediately UNINSTALL it!! People did and eventually later versions came out without all the malware infesting it! Personally, I never did go back to it.
So, I find this all WAY too suspicious. The App mysteriously stopped working (for how long?), rumors abound that the Developer was shut down and now a working app appears that full of viruses and malware!!
Whether the orig. developer sold this app or still has it doesn’t much matter (though it would be nice to know, for an app that’s been around so long) if it’s going to be full of dangerous garbage. And don’t tell me I’ve got 22 ‘false positives’, either!
Lastly, what happened to all the UFC bout videos?
But I’ll settle for finding a way to save and restore the ‘FAVORITES’ (assuming the old or new developers come to their senses and clean this crap up!).
on apk time works well
For Old Movies, have you tried an app like ReelGood to discover additional apps that contain your favorite oldies?
Stop with the long rant here…Using Favorites is like being in the 70’s! Dump Favorites and use Trakt TV. It’s Cloud based and saves all your shows and Movies and keeps Tracked of what you watch.
UK Turks is back up and running with v1.1.5. Still have the silly token requirement for live TV.
I downloaded it twice today, from two different sources. The first one - Firesticktricks - had nothing, just the spinning wheel.
In the second - from Firetvsticks.com - everything bar the Live TV section works. There is a message saying that that section is currently down, but the Premium Sports channels can be accessed with a token - but the link to the tokens isn’t working either.
There’s also a message saying that those channels will only work with version 1.1.5
best way is apk time as troy stated works well
Just tried the 1.1.5 from the updated instructions, and it loads ok, but after going into a menu, any menu I’ve tried so far, it refreshes or something and puts me back at the main menu.
Not sure what to try.
Next might be to uninstall and reinstall? IDK. I got in long enough in the about section for it to say it was current.
Using 4K Onn device…
Cant get it to work on any onn 4k boxes. same problem. anybody with a solution? or success on the onn? i have tried it on the regular and pro models
Most complaints about the onn seem to be almost the same as yours. I think some solved the issue by installing apps with the vpn off and once installed restart the onn, turn the vpn on, and open/run the app.
Thanks, can give that a try.
I’m just happy to get this app back. I can spent hours in the Documentary section. I have plenty of “live tv” from other sources.
I bet. There really is a huge documentary section for our viewing pleasure these days. Gotta love this hobby.
