How to Install & Setup Stremio on Firestick/Android

I don’t think any Onn stick or box is 64 bit :person_shrugging:

Too many people using it.I setup my Stremio with AioStreams with Debridio, StremTruTorz, Torrentio and Knaben. Debridio requires a yearly subscription for $10. Definitely worth it. Problem with Bootstrapper it uses Torrentio which goes down a lot and Mediafusion and Comet have a rate limit.

I’ve never been able to get much of anything (if anything) from Comet or Mediafusion.

I use both of those addons and do use them on the odd occasion. Good links but the public fair use limit is a real pain.

All this talk about Stremio makes me want to add my two cents. I use Stremio strictly as a backup. I installed it only because the Android 14 update to my MeCool box caused Kodi to not work. I have since moved on to the Onn 4K Pro and now am back to using Kodi. I find Kodi with Umbrella and RD always seems to have working links for what I want to watch. I find Torrentio is hit and miss. I also find links in Stremio (using Bootstrapper) is hit and miss. I have tried to watch many a program that in the middle of watching a show or movie, the internal player fails. I have used an external player, but then lose the subtitles. Kodi always works for me and I always get subtitles. I have been a Kodi fan for about ten years and will continue because it works for me. Ok my two cents are done.

After recent Stremio/Torentio issues, I am starting to think your way. I have used Kodi the last 2 nights.

@Dminor9 Spot on been using KODI for 10 years now. Tried Stremio a few years ago and while everything worked good I didn’t like the user interface at all. Sounds like there’s just been a ton of issues lately with Stremio. Also using Umbrella with Real Debrid and Trakt

At least my Stremio hasn’t wiped itself, :face_with_spiral_eyes:yet. Lol

Give it time!!!

I’m seeing many complaints of the new upgrade 1.8.2 crashing. Users reverting to 1.8.1 or 1.8.0 that seems to fix the problems.

I’ve not noticed any difference in stability since updating to 1.8.2.

Same here. I don’t think the issues have anything to do with the core app, just the community addons which Stremio will have nothing to do with.

I’m a die hard Kodi user. Personally, I’m not a fan of Stremio or STRMR, but I’m setting up a box for my 68 year old friend that has never had a streaming box, so I’m trying to make it as simple as possible.

I always found Kodi fairly simple. The only confusing part for me was learning what links are the best and in English. Other than that, I found it pretty easy. But that is just me. There are plenty of videos available on here and on You Tube explaining Kodi. It is just learning new software. Which is in everything these days. Most of my jobs involved computers and software, so maybe I am just used to it. I know plenty of people my age (60’s - 70’s) that would not be able to navigate a streaming box, Kodi, VPNs, APKs, etc. My nephew got me into streaming 10 years ago, and now he comes to me with problems he has with his device and apps. At least after setting it up and answering a ton of questions, fixing problems, and teaching them, you will become well versed in Stremio as well as everything you already know in Kodi. Any extra knowledge you gain is worth it. I try to learn something new daily. So Kudos to you! But I also agree, not a fan of Stremio.

I learned how to do a lot of it about 10 years ago, as well, out of necessity. My ex was the tech guy. I had to learn a lot and now it doesn’t phase me one bit to use Kodi.

And honestly, that’s why I wish I could combine certain aspects of Stremio and STRMR together. The only thing I truly like about STRMR is the ability to set it up for certain things to exclude from scraped links, like I can put in “CAM”, “MULTI”, etc. The one thing I like with Stremio is the “Add to library” feature in lieu of having Trakt. I know I’ll end up fielding calls one way or another. I just feel like with Kodi, I may as well move in for a week LOL

You can choose to select specific resolutions in Stremio as well. I only accept 1080 and up sources and that’s all I get.

Why do I keep getting “ the media you are trying to play is nott yet cached “ on all my add on. Media fusion , comet, and I can’t get torrentio at all. Worked fine last nite

When you setup those addons you didn’t select ‘Cached Only’ option.

Yea I did. Everything was working as late as last nite. I see premiumize is down which is what I use. Even kodi won’t work. All uncached. .

I just updated it was 1.8.4. Also it wouldn’t download from Troy’s toolbox. Had to use google playstore
