How to Install IPVanish VPN on Firestick & Fire TV (2023)

Agree with you. Something funny going on with that app! My trusted source back in the day at IPVanish said that those speed test apps all have to do with location where you are testing from. Example, if Analiti is using a server for tests in the Chicago area and you are connecting to their app from a location near that, you will get better speeds due to less distance. When you do the test in California and if they connect you to the same Chicago server for the speed test it will be slower than Chicago. Don’t know if this is true but it makes sense if it is.

So basically you are saying that getting the actual speed with Analiti is a crap shoot?

I think we are gonna go in circles with this @JerryJ

It seems the speed testers are fickle with how they provide results. If they were all 100% accurate and true there would no difference in results. But underlining factors play a role with how they each get those results.

Just be happy your streams are playing well. No need to measure speeds if all is going well.

I know which testers give me better results if i need my speed increased. Lol

Not sure, Jerry. I have no clue how their app is coded. I still think Analiti is one of the best out there as it compares to many of the other reputable tests that I’ve ran.

You are 100% correct. But I have consistently found that if Analiti indicates a download speed of <60mbps I will have very little buffering issues. Anytime Analiti has indicated a speed much below that 60mbps the buffering occurs. Again this has been consistent for me

On another note, I have been happily using IPV for 4.5-5 years. But the last few months we have had multiple issues with 0 mbps using IPV. The issue hasn’t been consistent but enough to be very frustrating. I did contact Tech Support by chat with absolutely no positive results. So after a week or so I sent an email and again, it seemed that IPV was saying that the issue was most likely a result of my ISP throttling. Which was odd since when I turned off the VPN my speeds (via Analiti) were well into 190 mbps range. So since I still have several months left on my IPV account I signed up for SS as they offer a 30 day trial period. So far we’ve not had an issue, so…

Can anyone tell me if I have split tunneling turned on ipvanish and all the system apps are set to bypass the vpn, will I still be covered on the user apps if I have them set to go through the vpn.

Why would you bypass the encrypted VPN tunnel and leave your system open to scrutiny and possible snooping? I never allow anything to bypass the VPN. For me that’s like making an impenetrable house and then leaving the back door open for anyone that knows how to open it.

I got a formuler z12 box today. When I have the vpn connected the internet won’t stay on.When I turn the system settings to where they bypass the vpn it stays connected. I have the 3rd party user apps going through the vpn but wasn’t sure if im still protected when using them. Thanks for your response.

I also have a z12 but using my P6L Ultimate at the moment. There is no reason when your VPN is connected that the internet won’t stay on and IPVanish is a well known VPN and it should work just fine. Have you tried a different protocol? I haven’t used IPV in years but as I mentioned it is well known. Have you tried Ethernet? There has to be some setting on the z12 that is wrong for it to be doing this. Just can’t think of exactly what that may be, so time to try a few different settings.
