How to Adjust Onn Android TV Box aspect ratio (scaling)

I have set up an Onn 4k steaming box using Troy’s instructions. Everything works fine except that the aspect ratio on side loaded apps are totally off, and I don’t know what to do. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Hello, easiest way to do this now is install Projectivy launcher through Google Play. You will see in Projectivy settings that there is a setting for changing overscan in Amlogic settings section. Even if you don’t use the launcher you can use it specifically for that one reason.

Interesting - I haven’t see an overscan setting in my android settings for my Onn 4k Plus. So it’s different if you install Projectivity?

It doesn’t appear in your regular settings area. If you install Projectivy, within that app you will see an Amlogic extra settings area that provides this functionality.

Go to 23:24 in the following video and you will see what I am referencing.

Hi @TROYPOINT I tried opening the YouTube instructions with your solution but I get the following error:

Webpage not available

The webpage at Troubleshoot YouTube video errors - YouTube Help could not be loaded because:

net::ERR_BLOCKED_BY_RESPONSE

I’m using my samsung galaxy android phone. Sorry for bothering you, Troy.

Hello, the following link will take you directly to the YouTube video. Loading fine on all of my devices.

@TROYPOINT Boy, what a dummy I must look like… and feel like :pleading_face: I forgot to turn off my SS VPN before opening the url for the YouTube instructions, then had no problem. Sorry Troy :confused:

OK, I found that setting and reduced the overscan, so I can now see the VPN Monitor Dot in the corner of the screen! The Onn Stick keeps jumping out of the Projectivy Launcher and back into the stock Google TV Launcher (and the overscan remains as set). After I’ve set the overscan in the Projectivy settings, will I lose that setting if I delete Projectivy?

Well, I think I answered my own question. I uninstalled Projectivy Launcher and the overscan setting remained as PL had set it. So I’m happy with that (I can take the Google TV interface, having lived with Amazon Fire TV home pages for 10 years).

I had the same overscan dilemma, using my Onn 4K PRO box, with an older TV. There’s a method to reach the scaling setting, using TV Actions Pro button remapping app. It’s a premium option, so I had to buy the app. This remapper has numerous options for customizing your remote buttons, so in my opinion, it’s worth it.
