Help! Been gone toooooo long and don't know where to begin!

I’ve been away from cable cutting for quite some time. I had previously used the 1st gen fire tv box. Eventually switched to the 1st gen ONN box. However, I became frustrated as every apk I tried, ever code I used for apks, and every kodi build I used had issues despite asking on here and in facebook groups. Having no one in person to talk to to troubleshoot what I was doing wrong (after going through ALL the steps online), I gave up.

With that said, it’s been 3+ years since I’ve tried. I’m now working a travel assignment and the place I am renting has an older fire tv box. I was streaming Disney+, but it began having issues. I uninstalled it, but the app disappeared. The box apparently is “too old”.

SO, i’m back to trying cable cutting. Could someone please help me?! I need to know

  1. what are the boxes to look at now?

  2. what apk’s and kodi builds should I look into and from where?

I’m back to being a Newb and it doesn’t feel too good :frowning:

Thanks in advance!

Look at Troy’s topics on 1) best android streaming devices for 2026 and 2) review, setup and supercharge video reviews for your selected device. Also download Downloader by AFTV News off google PlayStore and Troypoint App Store, code 250931 on your device to start.

Welcome back. 10 year KODI user. I no longer use Builds just 2-3 Addons. Yes do what @sim_bill says. Install Downloader then use the code he supplied for Troy’s Toolbox

Lots here are moving or have moved off Firesticks due to their restrictions. I use the ONN 4K Pro. Several here use them they are great for streaming And not expensive. Get them at Walmart but they are in high demand

I would say to start you can install the latest version of KODI (21.3) from Troy’s Toolbox. Then I’d start with a single Addon Search the forum or the web for “How to install Umbrella with Cocoscrapers”. You will see Troy’s step by step instructions.

You are also going to need a Premium Debrid service to get any playable sources on most Addons. Unlike back in the day there’s not
Many free sources on KODI. Luckily they are fairly cheap. I’d recommend Torbox - about $35/year

Also because you are a Patron you have access to the locked IPTV Services thread if you want to get an IPTV service for Live TV (News/Sports)

Good Luck

I will add to above, that a good IPTV service usually has a solid VOD section and 24/7 channels, so depending on how picky you are about needing 4k video and content. Just a good IPTV service could fill your needs.

For a streaming device look at the google streamer, for reasonably priced device.

Thanks! I did get the ONN 4k pro today, now going to try to follow y’alls advice to get it set up. How do I access the locked IPTV thread you mentioned?

best movie streaming website without ads moviez.top

You would be surprised what you can find if you use the site search. :magnifying_glass_tilted_left: Top header bar.

I downloaded Debrify from Troy’s toolbox. I use Stremio on my ONN 4K and have Kodi still working on a fire stick. Debrify is a beta version with a few kinks but is improving. I seem to end up there when I am looking for something to watch as it does a lot of the work for you. It seemed easy to set up with Real Debrid and works well for me. Anyone else using Debrify?

If you want to keep it simple to begin with, these 5 apps are all you need for hours of (basically) free quality TV. 1. Surfshark, 2. Stremio, 3. kodi with addons The Crew and Umbrella 4. Downloader By aftv, 5. The IPTV provider of your choice. Stick with these 5 apps and concentrate on them, it will save you alot of time and get you up and streaming in no time.

Don’t feel bad I have been trying watch video for last 2 weeks still unable i have the onn 4k steaming device in red box .In past was very good at following with fire stick ones but they stopped working if ihonestly it been like a year for me too.i need help i follow the video but still I click on app of the app nothing happens. I was trying something go before football season and he started asking so bought this onn device thinking it was be easy to but not luck about 3 wk later I too gave please anyone

I’m not sure if what I’m recommending is allowed here but here goes. In your case I’d just go to ebay and look for a Vseebox V6 Plus prepaid streaming boxes. By the way, I’m not a seller! They advertise for around $359 but can be gotten with an offer around $260 or less per box. That may sound expensive up front but you never have to worry about renewing anything! I have 3 boxes in my house and have helped friends and neighbors get theirs as well. They’re loaded with all the live news, sports, history, PPV, channels etc. and VOD (video on demand) with thousands of movies and series all for a one time payment with absolutely no subscriptions ever or at least until the box craps out. I’ve had mine for a couple years now and only had a few hiccups but easy to fix with help from sellers and on google and elsewhere. Easy setup takes just five to ten minutes and you’re rolling! Go to rumble.com and look for reviews for the Vseebox and many other brands as well yet from what I know this box is currently the best box available today.

Most of us here at Troypoint aren’t fans of so-called “loaded” android tv boxes. You can consider yourself very fortunate if the loaded tv service on it is maintained and lasts long enough to pay for what you spent. (I bought one if these as an experiment, a Monsterbox with a service still working after 5 years and sold it in a garage sale.) The other big problem is most of these boxes have inferior hardware, mediocre iptv players, and bad launchers in addition to poor ventilation and cooling. I had to mount 2 cooling fans under mine to make the box cooler and keep the processor from burning up. It is much better to get either an Onn 4K Pro, Ugoos or Nvidia Shield if all you are using it for is streaming.

Each to their own as they say. I’ve been following Troy since inception and I’ve streamed for going on 14 years or more and had all the major boxes formulers, nvidia, onn, mecool, amazon etc. and lots of iptv services with several that were really good. Anyway I didn’t come here to argue pros/cons of these boxes but mine have paid for themselves. I just offered up an alternative as this fella seemed not as astute about streaming and no offense intended to him that’s why I mentioned these boxes. Take it for what it’s worth…

get onn4k pro, surfshark, a good iptv and flixvision

SuperBox is great as well if you want to go this direction. Vseebox vs SuperBox is like a Chevy vs Ford truck debate.
