A million pounds is realistic profit from a pirate IPTV service or services, particularly if he was supplying Sky Sports content at a much reduced rate.
Sports gambling has long been ingrained in mainstream culture in the UK so interest in viewing sports of all types is probably as strong there as anywhere in the world.
