I wonder how long before they go the Amazon route and try to block 3rd party launchers to force feed ads?
Luckily, I don’t use any certified services so I’m fine with AOSP if they go off the deep end.
Also, with new apps like Fusion and Omni that use Stremio addons easily available in the App Store the AppleTV is really a nice alternative except for the minor drawback of losing height date on high end audio setups. The apps are better than actual Stremio on Android devices.
The AppleTV is ad free, clutter free and very fast and problem free. We’ve had one for years, but it never received much use but with the new apps it is one of our most used boxes now.
I know I won’t miss it of it goes. I use Formuler Z11 Pro Max now & haven’t looked back. I block all of Google’s apps completely & love the way the Formuler’s launcher setup & MOL3 works. Although a little pricey compared to other cheap options to be honest the MOL3 app has me spoiled. I learned a lesson on the Pro version though. Although it has the exact same processor & GPU, it’s lags on responsiveness at times especially if you have many things opened. Looking at the ram usage it only has roughly about 400 & change left usable of the 2G of ram it has in it. If anyone is thinking of buying one I would stick with the max for the 4G of ram. I thought I would save a little cash since it is basically all the same, but that loss of ram really does affect it. 16G of storage is more than enough with the 12-13G you have available to use so I thought it would be a great option, but nope.
Miki, thank you for posting this. Very interesting and a bit surprising.
I recently purchase a Hisense TV and never gave much thought to the OS which was Fire OS. My TV is part of the budget line which kinda bothered me since the higher priced models were Google OS. But I merely use the TV as a monitor and never logged into Amazon on it.
Same here. Never even setup the wifi on my Samsung. The thought of learning Tizen gives me the heebie jeebies. AOSP is definately the way to go.

I’ve not seen Fusion or Omni. Where can I find these?
Omni is in the app store as Omni - Content Hub
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/omni-content-hub/id6741470807
Their discord has info on how to set it up. https://omni.stkc.win/#discord
Fusion is still in development but works great. To get it you need to join their Discord and get the code to activate the app in Testflight. It is free for now at least. If the link below doesn’t work, try opening it in a private window.
Both work great with Infuse as the player.
Thank you!
