Google TV Announces New Updates Ahead of Streamer Launch

Watched the video…Sorry but it simply is not worth the extra $50 to “Dim my lights” Until my ONN 4K Pro has this functionality and as Troy says in the video it probably will, I’ll just sleep with a dark mask on

Seriously there are absolutely zero reasons why one would buy this over the ONN 4K Pro unless you want to throw $50 away

“Seems like a great deal until you see the price and it’s close to $100 which is $50 more expensive than the ONN 4K Pro that has the same capabilities”

Don’t forget the extra $20 for an HDMI cable that is usually included in most streamers these days. So that takes it up to $120.

Hope I’m not late to the party here, but my ONN 4k Pro is supposed to have lights on the box isn’t it. I’ve had it for a few months and just noticed there are no “function” lights on the front of the box. Is there a way to turn these on?

And yes, I did a search with nothing found. And sadly am not a Patron to save a few bucks – so no Troy unboxing video.

After a lot of research I found just one reference to your issue. They say your problem is due to poor power source. Bad plug, or bad brick and so on. So check out your electrical.

Thanks for the response Miki, but I’m using the included power cord. I guess I’ll check the connections. I’d also think this would affect other functions if the power was wonky. So you are confirming there should be lights there.? But if that’s the only malfunction, then I’m still very happy with it. Besides, it sits behind the tv anyway. Just bothered me is all.

Yes there are 4 LEDs. The manual Imposted shows them. I just couldn’t find instructions on turning them on or off or adjusting brightness.

Funny i just spoke about this with another memeber a few days/week ago.

My Onn Pro does have the lights but are only actually on if I say “Hey Google”. Otherwise they remain off.

If I was to turn off the microphone on the box they would stay on with red lights.

The other member says their lights (white) are on all the time. Which i never heard of before.

We realized they have the Onn Pro with the back lit remote and I have the original non back lit remote.

That was the only difference we could find as to why his stayed on.

Nor could I. Thanks.

Interesting. Yes, the “hey Google” turned them on (4 white “snowflakes”) and I have the backlighted remote. And then it goes back to black when my query is complete. First time I’ve seen any lights there.

Edit and caviat: I was completely ignorant of the Hey Google function that we use with the Echo Shows. Gets me pretty much anywhere.

Interesting. I thought the back lit version was the reason his stayed on…oh well, still a mystery to me.

Yes the Hey G can be used to turn on/off you tv and device as well as a general search function. But you will need CEC set up in order for the tv and sound bars to work with the voice commands.

I can say “HG open kodi”. All the devies turn on and the Onn Pro opens up kodi before I even sit down.

Wow. I asked my Alexa yesterday to play something, and it came up with out of the blue “Vampire Heart” song. So that was my test on the Pro with Hey Google. Yes it syncs perfectly with my Yamaha receiver, Magnapans and subwoofers. Actually got this old man’s hips moving to the beat. Wife joined in. Thanks for unlocking that Hey G feature even though I feel like an idiot.
