Google Messaging App

So, I need to vent a little. I was forced to transition from Samsung messaging app to Google messaging app. I most say, 1st day of use has been a horrible experience. Samsung app was much easier to navigate. Samsung had it where your groups could be selected right in the messaging app. So, I’m using my contacts when I want to send a group text.

Lol, I’m done venting. Guess, I must give it sometime to get use to it. Old people like me like things to remain the same.

OK @Mslea OK , you gotta chill down an take a break :laughing::laughing:,…but I do get your point, the differences between apps, services, or remotes, or whatever, when ya get used to a routine and it has to change can be frustrating for us old fogies…

Google messages is actually way better once you get used to it. I made the switch a long time ago. To make a group text you just select the first person to start a new message and then hit the + button to the right of their name to add more people. And you can also pin the conversation if you want it to stay at the top of your message list.

What are these messaging systems you all are talking about? Are these similar to Facebook messenger? If so I thought they died with the Dinosaurs  I never heard of Samsung or Google messaging?

Don’t most just send text messsages from their phones?

You might be old if… You don’t know that Google messages IS now the default app for text messaging.

I’m not that Old but nobody I know uses these messaging apps anymore. Most people I know have smart phones and send text messages

We’re saying the same thing. Text messages do require the use of an app. Most of the time the text messaging app is made by the manufacturer themselves and is just generically named “text messages”. That’s exactly what the Samsung texting app was. But it wasn’t that great for advanced functionality that comes with the newer RCS texting format instead of the old SMS. That’s why Samsung decided to ditch their own app and just start shipping devices with Google messages already installed as the default app. Does that make more sense?

Yep I know, thats why I needed to vent. I had to switch over 1 Jul and was mad about it. I liked samsung messaging app better. Maybe after time I will like the google messaging app.

I guess it’s just the native app that is on your phone based on your OS. I use an iPhone and just use the messaging app that is on that to text message.

I’m an Android girly and love my Samsung phones :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes::grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes::grin:

Yeah been on the iphone for at least a decade. I just bought the latest iPhone 17 because the one I was on was so old (iPhone 8) that I stopped getting updates and Apps stopped working. Was going to switch over to Samsung but they gave me a great trade in credit for the old crappy phone  it was too good of a deal to turn down
