Sounds like you have some Malware on your Shield or perhaps Organized crime has planted this through your VPN? Maybe try switching to an ONN 4K Box or Cheap China Box and turn your VPN off :man_shrugging:

You could try going to the Google Playstore on your Shield and searching for ADB TV App Manager. You can download and install this for free and use it to check if the app could be uninstalled or disabled that way, or if it even shows up in the list on that program.

But you use the best piece of equipment out there. The almighty Shield. Surely this couldn’t of happened to you…

I definitely don’t like anything being installed on my Shield behind my back. Especially if it’s something from the nuisance category. I’ll keep a close eye on our Shields and see if that app pops up unexpectedly. Was it just on your 1 Shield? Or others too?

Was just reading about someone else having this same issue. They said you can rid yourself of this if you go into All Apps, then scroll down to System Apps and click Google TV and uninstall the update.

I just checked and @Powerfader is correct. I now have it on the home page. I also didn’t notice as I go straight to TiViMate as well. No Google TV to disable or to remove updates. I’ll have to see what the exact module is called to see if I can disable it. I already have Live Channels disabled. There is a system app labeled simply “Google” but until I know exactly what that does I don’t want to force stop and Uninstall updates.

Right, don’t mess with Google in system apps. It needs to say Google TV.

Yup. After a bunch of reading, sorry to say, but it can’t be disabled or uninstalled. Those rows of movie suggestions are there to stay. Apparently the only option now is a custom launcher.

You need to dump that shield. Get an Amazon device. They would never do anything like that! lol

hey @hotwheels is it your Birthday? If so happy birthday. Have a great one. :boom:

I figured out a way that works for CCwGTV. All I did was modify the Final_TDUK_CCGTV_LM.apk and set the target sdk to 28 and changed the 33 and 13 parameters to 32 and 12. Setup wizard has to be disabled as well but disabling GTV through adb without the app didn’t work so that’s why I took a shot at modifying it. To my surprise it works flawlessly. I’m not sure if I can upload or give instructions so anyone interested let me know. I surely don’t want to break the rules. Also App Manager from GitHub is a really resourceful tool which I install the app bundle and requires a terminal you can install adb binaries on. It’s quite simple to connect just find the IP and use adb connect (IP address):5555. You need to make sure you have the correct architecture and rename apks to zip then unzip it to a folder. Go to that folder and with adb connected run adb install-multiple base.apk split-config.apk and whatever is extracted there. If you want to set the installer as Play Store then after install-multiple -i com.android.vending base.apk etc.

Hey that is some piece of innovative thinking. Nice work.

Thanks, I’m pretty fresh when it comes to IPTV but I’m an Android Veteran. I’m currently working on a way to root the new CCwGTV which will be extremely useful if it’s successful. Unfortunately I’m pretty confident no matter what it’ll take an older version and the firmware can’t be updated past security patch date February 2021. Difficult but not impossible to find one.

In Canada we’re starting to hear the sounds of toilets flushing now as well, lol!
