that’s a drag…

The only reason Chrome is dropping it is because Chrome is owned by Google and uBlock Origin is just too dang good at blocking all those obnoxious moneymaking Google ads. Awwww… not that it affects me, Chrome was never my choice of a browser.

Been using Chrome for several years. Use Adblock and Adguard. No ads here

Chrome takes 2 adblockers to accomplish what uBlock Origin can do by itself?

Don’t know. Never heard of Ublock Origin? Lots of people saying they are seeing ads on YouTube as well. All I know is I use the 2 and don’t see any ads. Not like it cost me anything. It just works

I understand. Especially if you’re not a Firefox browser user. I had used Adblock Plus before I found out about uBlock. In the early days, uBlock Origin rose to fame or became one of Firefox’s most popular extensions (over 8 million users) because it works so well at blocking ads, it’s lightweight, customizable, and it’s of course free. Firefox has a great selection of addons/extensions at addons.mozilla.org if anyone wants to have a look. And I have yet to see an ad on youtube. Will go check right now to make sure nothing has changed.
EDIT: currently using laptop, no ads on youtube.
Direct link to uBlock for info: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/?utm_source=addons.mozilla.org
EDIT Number 2: Just had a look and it says uBlock had over 40 million users on Chrome, as compared to 8 million on Firefox, wow. I guess Chrome has more users than Firefox because it comes pre-installed on anything Android. Firefox you have to choose to install. Still free though.

Ahh Gotcha…don’t use fireFox but sounds like Ublock Origin does the same job there as Adblock or AdGuard does with Chrome. As long as I don’t see ads on YouTube or elsewhere I’m good!

That’s the rub though. uBlock Origin would’ve or will do the same job as your 2 blockers with less system weight or stress. But now Chrome is doing away with it. Google turning into another Amazon with this one. Firefox isn’t in the fight thank goodness.

I use AdGuard on my server, so no adds across my entire network of devices

How about your cell phone? (if you’re not at home and using your own wifi)

Works fine in the house. Obviously not outside of my home network!

I added that part. What if you’re not at home?

I’m on android so just have the adguard app installed if I need it. I’m in 97.8% of the time!

Okie dokie. Hope you stay safe during those 3% ventures!

People are still using Chrome in 2024?!!! Why are you not using Brave?

You can use Wireguard on your cellphone to connect to your Home Router running Adguard home.
