Hi Miki I’ve been a member since 2023 and noticed this new policy rule many months ago. With some people being on a limited income like myself becoming a patron is hard. I wish it would at least have 2 replies a day on Troypoint insider as I used to like to help people and now I’m unable to. This policy just took effect I did not know about it was not sent an email or came across any posts about it.
It would be good if somehow they put together some type of a payment plan and gradually up you on special features as it is completely paid off the Patron lifetime fee. I would think more people would become a patron with this payment plan.
Hello, unfortunately our forum payment system doesn’t allow for this. If that feature is ever made available by the developers we will definitely implement it.
Also, we had a pinned comment on the home page of this website for a couple of weeks leading up to the increase in price. This happened in Mid-2025.
Hi Troy I was mentioning about I’m only able to do a 1 post per day as a non-Patron. I wasn’t mentioning about an increase in Patron fee. But for non patrons 1 per day only posts was what I was mentioning about not getting an email or any kind of notice on that but I know it is what it is. And I was maybe just putting in a suggestion on a payment plan that would maybe work well for a lot of people and maybe have level teirs that allows them to post more per day as they go up the ladder. I’ve truly enjoyed your website over the years and still come back but I am not able to help people like I used to with the Patron membership fee involved. Even if it was $20 for five posts per day $40 for 10 posts per day and then add on things with that but for me the patron fee is kind of hard since I’m disabled and on a limited income but I am very knowledgeable about computers myself since I started in 2008 with my first laptop and AOL dial up. Remember them days haha. Thanks for responding just suggesting.
I have been very ill since not long after I was allowed to gratefully join the Troypoint Insider community. I found it very informing in the short time I wasn’t being thought of as a non participatory patron. My goal was clear so I thought, I wanted to heal and participate with enthusiasm with this fine group of folks who have a similar hobby as myself. I recognized that many long standing members are still happily following along, reading and commenting on interesting topics and learning more about the politics of big businesses, I as well enjoyed learning from you Troy. I found community and I became an interested in cord cutting. I had no intentions of forking out hard earned monies at this time to support any group that I hadn’t been allowed to feel any growth in.
Shame to be kicked out because of money problems, that I understand many have come to face.

Hello, you aren’t kicked out, you just posted a message. Those who become Patrons get extra benefits. It’s our way of thanking them for supporting TROYPOINT.
I don’t believe it taking donations without giving something back in return and that’s the reason for our Patron program.
Those who don’t want to join still have access to this site and Patrons get a little more, it’s that simple.

I think what has happened as myself as a non-patron I’ve been with Troy for a few years and I was able to post or reply many times but recently maybe 6 months ago all of a sudden I was only allowed to post or reply 1 time per day. So maybe if you tried to reply more than 1 time in that day you thought maybe you were being kicked out but I’m still here as long as you follow the rules and regulations in the forum you’ll be fine. I am so very grateful to know that I am still a member here with such technically inclined, (and somewhat not so inclined speaking for myself only) with the Troypoint Insider community. I am an older Telco and notification Alarm System low voltage contractor and business owner. I took my retirement in 2010. I am from California and owning one of two businesses allowed me to help see cellular technology start and take off like wildfire here in my State.

Hello, been following for some time just never signed up, was going to become a patron as well, but it is stating not excepting any new patrons. If true, will new patrons be able to join in the future?
