I’ve searched as best I can can’t find anything relating to this problem.
I have a 3rd Gen fire tv cube, did the hack if we call it that and blocked updates, eveyrthing was working fine, but now nothing will run on kodi, I tried uninstall/reinstall, clear cache, clear data, reboot after reboot, used just the default kodi with only one app it starts only to get to the studio then locks up, forgot to mention prior to this I was getting terrible lipsyn problems.
The only thing that seems to remedy it is if I turn off passthrough, but I would prefer to leave it on as I have a 5.2.4 speaker system.
Have you tried a restart on your fire TV cube? I have a 3rd gen also. The other day I was in the Roku app and I couldn’t get it to play which is lock up with the show like it was in pause. That fixed it. I missed doing the hack but I did add about 8 or 9 URLs to my router TP-Link AXE5400 and it worked I picked two other devices haven’t checked yet. I guess the hack add-on was good if Amazon changed or figured out a way to get into their system for updates.URLs to Block. There were more URLs then Troy had but I just googled it asking URLs that block fire TV updates I was shocked that Google’s AI answered it. I’ve had my cube for about a year and I had a big problem and didn’t get an answer here at Troy in short every time I picked a show on the fire TV home screen it would open the prime video app I’ve never had that happen on any of my devices so I went into total commander app and was able to long press on Prime video app and remove it Amazon kept notifying me and the notifications that the app had an update but everything works good except for if I want to subscribe to channels which I don’t do it brings me to the prime video app download. I used Kodi at the beginning of my streaming 10 years ago but found it so much easier to have Cinema HD, films plus, and Tea tv. I have a 5.1.2 Vizio sound bar and I have the cube going directly into the sound bar that might help with some sync issues you’re having. Last time I checked with the Google search it had less URLs on it. So I will keep checking to add it to my router. But I think Amazon will get into the system eventually and just stop those apps. It kind of sucks doing all the work and then they take it away from you. Just to add for say stop on Kodi and then relaunch it. Just wanted to know lately because I’m not a patron Troy only allows me to post or replied posts once a day it seems not very fun now that I can’t respond right away. I’m on a limited income and it would be good if Troy with their patron membership would maybe have a monthly until fully caught up I would go with that. So if I don’t reply right away if you have a question that would be the reason. I posted interesting stuff on Troy and never got a response so just trying to help. By the way I have Cody on a onn 4K box but I could never get it to work right even though I’ve used Cody many years ago even adding real debrid to activate was a hidden setting challenge. But I was helped here on Troy point with that. But I don’t use it because none of the shows play anymore when I went back to it it’s a backup. I haven’t gotten into the whole Google TV yet anyway. But I guess I will if Amazon gets into my system somehow. Also if you’d like to know the cube right away when I got it I had a gigabit ethernet adapter and plugged it into the USB on the cube and was able to get over 300 MBps speed TP-Link has a cheap one. I said at the start of my post that I have rebooted several times, that made no difference.
Maybe if I tell how my I set up is, I don’t have ethernet connected on wifi I get better speeds usually around 490mps without vpn and around 300mps with Surfshark.
It makes no difference with or without the vpn.
I’m using Kodi 21.2 omega
And just to add the last couple of times Prime has crashed after opening it.
I still don’t have a clue what else I can do, funnily enough just after my first post I went back and tuned in to Kodi and it worked but the lipsync was back but running at 700ms delayed, then it stopped working all togther.
I am not a kodi fan by any means but I do remember reading a post in the multitude of kodi issues that someone went back to kodi 19.5 I believe it was, and that worked. Maybe give an older release a go. I know it’s a lot of work but if it works then hopefully you’ll have a useable kodi again.

I think it was @Boostmeister in a Mecool thread and seems it isn’t the device so much as an Android 14 issue.
Glad to hear that you are up and running with 19.5. Make sure to open the Google Play Store, click on your avatar in the upper right hand corner, and turn OFF Auto-Update Apps. If you don’t, Kodi will be updated to 21.2, generally within 24 hours. You can still manually update apps, although if you have enabled Developer Apps and set Force Apps to External Memory, you will find that any Android System app will fail to download properly. For Android System Apps, you will need to turn off Force Apps to External Storage, then update the Android System App, then go back into Developer App and turn Force Apps to External Memory back ON. The reason is that the Android Operating System expects to find these System Apps in the root or base memory, not on any external memory (if you have any). Good Luck!
Thanks mate but the updates were turned off ages ago.
I’ve been trying all the other kodi builds with the apps I use, they all failed.
I’ve now gone back to 21.2 but I’m now using Fen Light, where as in the past it was either Dradis or Umbrella.
I’ve added the other apps I use one at a time there’s only five in total atm the moment everything is working fine.
If possible i’ll keep you posted, i’ll probably need your help again.
The reason that I recommended to turn off auto updates is that I am running a MECOOL KM2+ Deluxe that was recently updated to Android 14. Kodi 21.2 had been working fine before the update from Android 12 to Android 14. I had deleted 21.2 and installed 19.5, and that worked great, for about 24 hours and then it automatically updated to 21.2, and I was right back to Kodi not working again. Now that I have turned off auto updates, I have Kodi 19.5 working with about three or four add-ons. Can’t speak to your 3rd Gen Fire Cube as I don’t know what O/S it’s running. Good luck Willie.
A lot stopped working for a day.up in canada,on the firesticks.on the new it said there was interruption from the suns solar flare.but it only lasted one day.all is working now.
Right then.
Forgot I had a 4K fire stick with the workaround on it, connected it to the same hdmi port as the cube was on the Amp first this was without the dongle got a blue screen put on the dongle and added a 4gb thumb drive, rebooted took a short while but everything is working fine.
Tried a movie and one of the latest series played perfect and in Atmos, which I now think is the problem with the cube.
But i’m going to leave it as it is now at least i’ve got a test device working and properly.

I’ve found the problem with the cube.
I have as all ways been using wifi with my 500mbps connection and get really high speeds up to 514mbps, so i’ve disabled it and connected an ethernet cable yet again everything runs fine it now recognises Dolby Vision/Atmos the only thing that disappoints is the speed without vpn 90mbps with and connecting to the good 'ol US of A, Boston i chose runs at 88mbps.
Been checking up on the net see if I can speed up the damn thing.
