Fire stick using USB issue

I installed a USB external drive on my Firestick. I needed more storage so I installed it using Troypoint. I did this on 4 separate fire sticks. It was working great for months and now 2 fire stick are making my stick reboot. It only reboots when the USB is connected. The other 2 are working fine……
Any help what is suddenly causing this….
