I don’t like it when these apps force you to download “their” player. Always seemed fishy to me.

I’ve gone back to the old ways of of practicing “If it ain’t broke, Don’t fix it” Too many times I’ve upgraded and no joy. Unless I read of features that I absolutely want, I just let it be. This app in particular talks about an upgrade from their page and can’t upgrade a modded app. Pretty sure my version was from there so I don’t even know why the pop up say’s that but I press cancel and to quote Mike, Stream on

Try to uninstall film plus. Then reinstall it. If you get the earlier version, every time it tries to install a new version go ahead and push the first button to install it and try to get it to settings and then cancel the settings and it should go back to the previous version. I had to do this every time I opened up the app. This was on a fire stick 4K maxx. I didn’t like the app so I uninstalled it went back to streamio.

@AMD237 You don’t have to use their player. Start with open with and then you can set what you want as your default player. I think I downloaded it the first time then just deleted it. I use Mxpro.

@AJS1 Personally I really love the app and use it for TV series. I am sure it must have every series ever made. I have never yet got to the bottom of the list. It keeps track of what ep you’re on as well very good. The links are solid. Of course it’s all subjective but it’s the first app that made me put stremio aside, well for mini series and Tv series.

I also did the same thing.

I just now download it and it required me to update. I did so, but on the final popup to update I canceled, and it went away. I click on a tv series, and it gave me the option to play with another player. I chose VLC and it is playing as I type this. I tested another show and played with MX Pro.
Downloaded from Unlinked.

Update: After reading the post from AJS1, he is correct. Every time I boot up the app it goes through this whole update nonsense again. I downloaded the1.5.5 but had to update to the 1.5.7. If I can’t find a work around, I will be uninstalling this app because of the inconvenience. Unless someone can reassure me that their player is good and SAFE! Too bad too, I was kinda interested in this app., but there are others out there that are just as good, or better and don’t force their own player on you.

Update #2: I uninstalled that app 1.5.7 (which was noted as OFFICIAL and had ads) and downloaded one that was Ad-Free. This app downloaded the same as the previous but did not require me to update. It is stayed as V 1.5.5 and it allows me to choose my player. Also, there is a whole bunch more features in the settings. Upon exiting the app and rebooting no popup requiring updating appeared and the app loaded and played without issue.

May keep this around and check it out for awhile…shows promise!

The only ad I get is the same one repeated over and over again and that is to download Plex from the Playstore. It’s about 30 seconds. I have no problem with that. Glad you finally got it sorted.

Update:
I just started the app and there was no cancel anymore, only able to press update to 1.5.7. I pressed update, it downloaded it, when it came to the install screen, I pressed back. No update but it’s going to do this each time. If I can keep it this way, I will deal with that. On my 4k and 4k Max, it’s still version 1.5.3.

I have the 1.5.5 on my Max. I start up the app and it want’s the update, I click update, but because I haven’t authorized FilmPlus to install I just click Cancel on my next screen and it opens to the main page. I’ve set VLC as the player and it works great. A small delay in starting is all.

Just so I’m clear, since I have 1.5.7, I now have to download their installer to play anything? I’m on it right now, but I don’t see any buttons to override this.

Go to settings, scroll down to player, choose default continues option, open and you have other players you have installed to choose from.

That is what I am experiencing, too.

What version are you using?

1.5.5 mod. I got it from applinked. Was from 7/9/22

Gotcha. That version must be way better than the 1.5.7 then lol. No way that I see to use an external player in this version, but I could be wrong.

I just noticed my mod version has lost another player option, but plays fine and ad free.

The Film Plus 1.5.7 mod on Apk4All.io works, it disables the pop-up for Bplayer only, and restores player options in settings.
