It has to be 5Gbps and for $50 that’s a good deal.
They’re idiots. Yup stick with what you have
thanks people nice taking to you all. OUT
1 gigs internet is 1000 mbs…
I think you need to contact them again. Are you in a rual area? Nobody offers 5 down and 2 up as service. Unless low end satellite or something.
Are you getting 5 down with a vpn? Should check that.
But 1000 down is 1 gig… but okay. 1gig does not = to 125 down. That is wrong. I worked at a internet company and pulling fiber from the ground to the house so… 1gig is 1000 mbs.
Mbs is megabytes per second witch means 1000 thousand of those guys is 1 gigabytes… the terminology is the same… kilobytes are smaller.
Kilobytes
Megabytes
Gigabytes
I know but you are using it wrong, internet is calculated using mbps, so you gave the wrong numbers. That was my point. 1000 mbps is 1gig.
If he called the inet company they wouldn’t get it right and it would be confusing.
Ahh I get what you’re saying. Mine is correct but ISP use Mbs not MB/s . Got ya.
Didn’t mean to sound rude. Just if he called them and said that… it would be confusing conversation.
All is well.
Keep me posted on your stats, I think the numbers are different. 5 down is odd.
Oh ya I understand fully. Had he gone with mine the supplier would have been totally confused as they seem to be now with what speeds they actually provide.
A friend had me over to investigate why her PC was so slow. Discovered that her download speed was 4, yes 4. Called her provider (*o&ca#t), and they actually have a plan for those that only use email and a no frills internet which is her situation.
TP-Dracco.I’m not going with these people.my speed is much higher than there’s,so,I’ll stick with the I now have
i have fiber at my cabin and its 50mbps and running about the same up and down
here in fla starlink is giving me 248 this am up runs bout 20
What’s the name of the company?
I just want to say this discussion and defining of the terms (e.g. mbps vs GB etc.) was so educational! Thank you! Also @Miki thanks for the calculator page!
We’re always learning. @TP-Dracoo showed me where ISPs use Mbs and not MB/s to define their speeds. So we all learn from each other on a daily basis.
Top shelf yeah (and expensive to do right), but keep in mind when providers and such make grandios claims about how great fiber is, that doesn’t necessarily mean (as in probably isn’t) fiber all the way from them to your house.
Agreed, either there’s a typo or someone’s got their numbers botched.
