First off let me say that I love the Fast Task Killer app! I had been using it successfully on my FireStik, but when I recently upgraded to the Nvidia Shield Pro, it is NOT easy to get to it. Seems the Shield Pro does not want you to get to it - without digging. So, I’ve been searching for the fix on Insider, and have tried several solutions, but none have worked for me.
I still can’t seem to get the task killer button to appear in the list of apps on my new Shield Pro. I tried “Rippleffect”'s solution listed in the Nov 22 posts - by going to the Google Play store and downloading the “Sideload Launcher” but it says this app is NOT available for my device? What am I doing wrong?
That app will not show on your favorites or your app page. Try making a shortcut using TV App Repo
Although, here’s what I do to expedite the whole process of force closing and clearing cache. I downloaded the Background Apps and Process list. I never force close that one out so it will come up (Recent Apps) with a double click on my Home button. Then go into your All Apps and open FTK. Now when you click on Background Apps and Process list it will appear in that app.
I force close all apps from there and the last step is opening the FTK app and then I turn off my device.
Another easy way to clear all cache from all of your apps with one click is to go into the Nvidia settings to Storage and select Cached Data and then click ok.
Btw, I whitelist a few apps in the Background Apps and Process List app because I always want them running in the background, i.e., Mouse Toggle, Set Orientation, and Monitor Dot.
Another way you could make your FTK app more accessible would be to remap a button on your remote using the Button Mapper app.
