False "wifi is disconnected" message

Is anyone else getting false “wifi is disconnected” message when using a Kodi addon? This message appears randomly in the top right corner when watching programs on Kodi/Seren. It does not appear on Smarttube or IPTV. This does not affect the programming in any way.

My son, 2000km away, also gets the same message on his Kodi/Seren setup. He is using an ONN stick, and I’m using a Shield Pro , so I think its unlikely to be a hardware or android issue.

Any ideas as to what might be the cause?

You’re probably getting brief disconnections but the buffer is absorbing it. Maybe Kodi is the only one that reports a disconnect that doesn’t interfere with playing the stream(?)

Could be a lot of reasons why this is happening. Are both of you using the latest release of Kodi and connected to a VPN when this message appears?

I’m still on 21.2. My son updated to 21.3 and reinstalled Seren a few days ago. (He was having issues connecting to Trakt – update has resolved these issues.) Prior to this update he was NOT getting the messages. They started after the update. I have been getting them, off and on, for the past month. Neither of us use a VPN.

He is going to try connecting via ethernet to see if the problem is with his router. I doubt it is the router. We each have different routers.

For my part I haven’t noticed any messages in the last day or 2. Maybe the problem fixed itself, or maybe I have gotten used to them :slightly_smiling_face: .

It’s not a serious issue. The message only appears for 5-10 seconds at a time, usually only during the first 5-10 min. of the episode or movie.I was only curious whether anyone else was getting them.

I have received that same message while using Kodi. I also get a message saying my eternity is disconnected. It happens randomly.

Thanks for letting me know. At least we’re not the only ones getting these random messages. I haven’t noticed them for a few days now. Hopefully they’ve stopped. In any event, it’s not worth expending any further effort over.

Thanks TP. I’m very happy with Seren, and these random messages aren’t enough of a reason to go looking for alternatives in the off chance it might be caused by Seren.
