Fall 2025 is shaping up to be a big moment in streaming. CNN and ESPN are betting that their new streaming platforms will win over cord-cutters. But are these efforts too little, too late? Yawn. Remember CNN+ and how that turned out? And who wants to pay $300 per year for stand alone ESPN when it’s included on so many other TV packages?
they seem to be doing the same thing over and over again, you don’t have to be a genius to know that this streaming thing is going to drastically change soon.
Flop… No one likes cnn and espn is losing viewers as well.
I pay for CNN through cable and despite that they continue to flood their content with commercials. I won’t pay them more more for the same thing.
It seems ESPN is struggling these days with identity. I believe they need to be loyal to their base and stick to sports. I used to love to watch them but it’s. Becoming more of a platform for analysts agenda. Just my opinion.
I think this will be an abject failure, for both. I get ESPN+ free with my Verizon contract and I have watched it a few times during the college football season and it is just about useless. Most of the good games are already being broadcast on other channels so I don’t need it unless, well I just don’t need it. There are no NFL games broadcast so my Sunday is full watching elsewhere. ESPN+ needs to get something no one else has and to be exclusive that costs big money.
Amazon and Netflix have figured out that the NFL is the biggest game in town and pay big money to get games on their services and are getting big viewership numbers. Unless ESPN+ wants to cough up big bucks too they are doomed.
CNN is just throwing away $ unless they start paying Trump bribes to come on and say stupid stuff to attract his loyalists. They can’t compete with Fox News (if you want to call it news) and their entertainment for dummies.
