It’s been a year since we last talked about the “Homatics Box R 4K” streaming device. I think now it’s called the “Dune HD Homatics Box R 4K” and I’m wondering if anyone here has given it a go yet? It still looks to have the best specs in the market.
Thoughts?
Nothing really stands out spec wise as the box appears to be alligned with most other x905 boxes on the market. Dune however is known for media players and that might be worth the look. I’ve never tried a dune box so not sure. If I were to guess I would bet dune has a setup similar to formuler or buzztv boxes.

Edit: looks like Google TV is now an interface that runs on Android TV which is up to version 13 already. I really hadn’t been paying attention! lol
I don’t know anything about their media player or what I’d use it for. I have a specific image that I deploy to my family in multiple houses that locks everything down to:
ATV Launcher Pro
Launcher Manager
TiviMate
Syncler
Cinema
SmartTube
Netflix
Hulu
Apple TV
Prime Video
SurfShark
VPN Monitor Dot
Various Management Apps (X-Plore, etc.)
So I need Netflix certified.
What I like about the specs are:
Android TV 11 (is this still the best OS?)
Ultra HD (4,096 x 2,160)
Dolby Vision
Dolby Atmos
AV1
Netflix Certification
Built-in 1GB NIC
I might be able to get away with a MeCool device that has the same specs, well I don’t think any of them have everything including AV1?
I haven’t been staying up to date on the OSes lately. I think there’s Fire OS that I certainly don’t want, then Android TV and Google TV?? I definitely need an OS intended for TV and Netflix plus all those paid services (Apple TV, Prime, and Hulu).
If you have a cheaper recommendation, I’d love to hear about it!
Has anyone tested this box I’m thinking of getting one.
I did, I returned it for a 2019 Shield Pro. It felt… high end Chinese knockoff. That’s not a great reason one way or the other. It felt light instead of solid the way a Shield Pro feels in your hand. It ran warmer than a Shield Pro too. In the end I decided to get the exact same setup in both rooms, same TV, same soundbar, same shield… so maybe I didn’t give it much of a chance. It’s powerful tho. Just order off Amazon and test it yourself, then send it back if you don’t like it or can get it cheaper elsewhere. 
They sell these for a third of the price on AliExpress
I don’t know what AliExpress’s return policies are like, I was just saying you can order on Amazon, test it for a week, then send it back easy peasy.
Then if you still want one you can order off someone cheaper.
Can you share a link i cant find any on Ali express there is a homatics lite if thats what you are referring to which is not the same.
AliExpress must have sold out of the model you want and all they presently have are the lite. Check back once a day, or so, as they frequently restock.

Thanks, I’m currently testing it out. I has a few weird bugs like it doesn’t respond sometimes. Once it came on by itself. The website says that it has a manual update to atv 12 and it fixes some of the dts dolby and atmos issues. But it has to be downloaded on usb and you have to use recovery mode to complete the upgrade
