DOJ Will Push Google to Sell Chrome to Break Search Monopoly (2)

I’ve always thought the only legitimate reason people would have for using the Chrome browser is that it came pre-installed on their device. Not a great browser, much better choices out there.

Love Chrome been using it for decades. Way too many paranoid people here IMO

I agree, not my choice either but if and when I use it I use chromium.

I also have no issues using Chrome, although I have to admit, I don’t add any plugins which is where some ppl seem to have issues. I have tried 3 other browsers and always returned to Chrome. It just works smoothly for me.

100% @Miki

It has nothing to do with paranoia, the browser security is okay, it’s simply inferior to Firefox for example. If you’re someone that’s not into much beyond just browsing a website, then you would probably not relate to all the other options.

LOL. OK! Whatever. Simply inferior

I could rephrase it this way. Those who do less, require less.

That’s the thing I hated Forefox and found it awkward to surf with. Chrome works perfectly for my needs and has never let me down or caused me problems, or maybe it’s just because I’m “simple”, yes brilliant but simple. Just the way I like it. To each his/her own. I do like being able to enter certain commands in the URL line to open specific modules for configuration, if it’s something I am interested in. Wait, did I say “Simple?”
Have Fun and STREAM ON!!!

I use both chrome and Firefox on different systems. Mostly Chrome. I did find something that greatly picked up the speed of firefox and stopped it hammering at the hd or in my case the ssd. It made a huge different in speed and the constant update is not needed.

After some digging, I found out that this behavior is controlled by a parameter that you can access through typing “about:config” in the address bar. This parameter is called: —browser.sessionstore.interval

It is set to 15 seconds by default. In my case, I reset it to a more sane (at least for me) 30 minutes. Since then, I’m only seeing about 2GB written to disk when my workstation is left idle, which still feels like a lot but is 5 times less than before.

You’re not simple, maybe just set in your ways a bit? I recall you even being a Firestick over Shield proponent not too very long ago. I’m gonna waste my time and yours by typing this but what the heck. I’m gonna assume you’re talking about using Firefox on Android and not on Windows? If so, I’ll definitely give you that Chrome is easier to use on Android. On Windows it is a much faster, smoother, and rich experience. But as you said, to each their own. Being in the IT field for over 27 years now I have had major frustrations repairing computer after computer and finding 99.9% of the time they used the default browser with no type of adblocker installed. My first step after cleaning was always to install Firefox with one single extension, uBlock Origin. You could do side by side comparisons on a movie or any type of website laden with malicious pop-ups, using Firefox with uBlock Origin and any browser you pick and I think you would find Firefox would earn your loyalty.

Oh I also agree with you entirely. I haven’t messed with a win doze computer since I stopped tweaking the Reg in XP Black. Almost ancient times. :joy: Yes I was referring to 'droid in my reply and I am still appreciative of the Fire OS, just refocused and modified my thinking and needs, which will no doubt change in the future. Just so much to learn and so little time. Although I do have to admit, those many many years ago I didn’t like Firefox either. Can’t honestly remember what browser I used. Most of the time I was too busy running my Torrent site to surf the net. It was a full time job for me. That and IRC. Even then the learning curve was huge.

Windows XP Black! Oh yeah, those were exciting days, lol. I used it. And a modified version of Win 7 Ultimate. Not much fun left to be had with Windows anymore. I remember back in the 90’s the early days of the internet, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer came pre-installed on every Windows based computer. Needless to say, it was the most used browser for many years only because people didn’t know they had better choices or how to change. Also, 90% of spyware/virii/malware was written to target that particular browser for this same reason. Was it a good browser? Absolutely not. Did more people use it than any other browser? Unfortunately, yes. Most of the people in the IT office called it Internet Exploder. Those were the days. Everybody had ICQ and a geocities page, lol. We’ve come a long ways.
Edit: before Firefox came around I used Netscape. Maybe that was what you were using too?

Ahhh yes. It was Netscape. Tx.

I have something I would like people to test, with Chrome browser. I don’t know if it’s okay to post here. It’s a site. Has links to live channels. Says the links won’t work if you copy and paste them into your browser but they work fine for me. Browser issue? Don’t know. It’s a site much like daddylive or thetvapp. Yay or nay?

I miss netscape!! That was my favorite browser back in the day

I guess if it’s not kosher it can be removed. Anybody using Chrome, does using the copy button and pasting the url for the channel of your choice into your browser work? https://topembed.pw/?show_tv=true

I use Chrome browser on my pc. Tried a few channels and this is what I get

That’s what was expecting would happen. Thank you for testing. Would you be willing to try the same link using Firefox with the uBlock Origin extension added?
