Does Nielsen ratings meter rat you out for IPTV service?

Hey all,
just wondering, we’re signed on to be a Nielsen meter family. Does having an IPTV worry me? Do they rat you out? Any info will be appreciated.
Thanks

Didn’t even know they still do that. Lol

Are you being well compensated for this? Hopefully yes otherwise I’d say no. This is where tv makes its money so they better spread the wealth to you.

Are they asking to keep track of your cable box viewing or streaming viewing? Both? One tv or all tvs? What about computers or tablets? Not even sure if they differentiate between this anymore.

Either way i have no idea how they pull your viewing habits to their database. You may want to understand that before you let them inside you house and invade your privacy. You are signing a contract i assume so you better understand it first.

I would not do it!

How are Nielsen going to check on your viewing?

N. Disclosures of data to third parties

Personal data collected may be disclosed to clients and service providers under contract. We contractually prohibit our clients from re-identifying individuals from the de-identified data that we provide them (e.g., audience statistics). Furthermore, we contractually prohibit recipients of our data from using it to make decisions regarding credit, insurance, housing, employment or other legal effects on individuals

Sounds like… “we told them not to spy on you but they did anyway”. Lol

If you believe that then no worries… no vpn will ever give up your info, no debrid will either. Your iptv loves you and will keep you safe…lol

I’m guessing you see my sarcasm.

I believe everything we do is traceable (to an extent) but most likely no one is looking at us small potatoes. No need to put a spotlight on yourself.

I’d stay away from it regardless of using an iptv or not.

You better lock your Doors and Hide under your Bed…The PO LIS are coming!

Nielsen is in the business of reporting what you are watching to interested parties (and big brother). Rat You Out? Expect It!

I used to work for Nielsen. When you are asked to become a Nielsen ‘Family’ you have everything explained, so you are already aware they report data to ‘interested parties’ regarding ALL your viewing habits on all your TV devices. It’s not actually ‘Ratting you out’ if you are aware before you go into the agreement with them. By the way they don’t report data on individual households, you will be a member of a sample group and NOT identified individually to anyone. However the pitiful recompense given by Nielsen is not worth the agro in my mind and thats from someone who has installed and managed MANY Nielsen families.

Glad you sorted that out. There’s a ton of paranoid nervous nellies on this forum. Maybe this will let them sleep better
