Discovered new media player app: Vimu Media Player (FireTV, Android TV)

I was having trouble getting my A/V setup to properly play Dolby 5.1 audio in MX Player, and I wasn’t a fan of Stremio’s built-in player.

I recently came across “Vimu Media Player.” Not only does it correctly pass through Dolby 5.1 audio, but it also supports Dolby Vision—something I’ve never seen MX Player handle properly.

The app is available in the Amazon Appstore for a few dollars.

It’s also listed on the Play Store for Android TV devices, but you can’t purchase it there (likely due to sanctions). The only way to buy it for Android TV is through their website (https://vimu.tv
) by installing their “Installer” app. This lets you install the latest version of the player and purchase an unlock key using Telegram Stars.

Overall, it’s a solid app with a lot of useful features, and it performs noticeably better than MX Player. The developer is also very responsive and mentioned that a major new version is coming soon.
