I uninstalled Wolf Launcher and Launcher Manager and neglected to disable them first. I tried to reboot the Shield afterward and all that comes up is the Nvidia logo, the word Android and then the screen goes black and stays that way.
I’m afraid I screwed it up permanently. Do any of you Shield users know what I can do to resurrect it? Thank you so much!
Not sure if you bricked it and I no longer have a shield but since it cant hurt try unplugging it for about 10 mins…then plug it in and hold the power button on the remote down as it boots up. Might need a few tries…and if that dont do the trick maybe one of these nvidea gurus will show up
Here’s what is happening. When you uninstalled Wolf without first disabling it your device is still looking for that interface. I believe your stuff is all there and active but you can’t see your apps and stuff because it is hidden.
Try these two options:
#1. Try a voice command on your remote like “Open Settings”.
#2. Try downloading and using the phone’s Shield TV Remote app. Then select the settings app or your Play Store app.
Now you can reinstall Wolff Launcher and Launcher Manager. Then you can first disable Wolf Launcher and then uninstall them both.
Not sure if this will work, but it is worth a try. You can’t hurt it any worse! Lol
Oh, yeah, most likely if this works you probably still won’t see your UI. I think you may have to first enable Wolf launcher from settings>all apps on your phone’s remote app and then proceed?
Heres what worked: I installed the Shield app on my iPad. From there I was able to use the Settings button to reactivate the Android Home Screen. It’s working perfectly and I will never do anything that stupid ever again. You would think that after following Troypoint for years now that all of that excellent instruction would have prevented this.
I had the same thing just happen to me after I uninstalled Projectivy and Launch Manager. I tried @Powerfader advice and tried the microphone saying “open settings” and viola. Then downloader to Troypoint Toolbox. Re-installed Launch Manager and Projectivy and now I’m in business again. Love this group!
