Cox Communications has asked the United States Supreme Court to review a previous ruling from an appeals court that started in 2018. Cox is one of the most prominent, well-known Internet Service Providers with a massive customer database of over 6 million users across 18 states. The case initially began in 2018 when Sony Music…
Sounds like to me they’re fighting the process, due process, of terminating internet internet service without a court order. Versus fighting the issues that the ending person was actually an infringement on copyrights.
Cox Communications already tracks what I do. I do not like it. But I haven’t got to mention it to them. I know what I’ve done on the internet I don’t need them to tell me. On your Cox account go to Data usage meter and then to View all usage activities. They even know when you’re using a VPN That’s so when you go back to them when you’re trying to work a deal out for your in my case just internet you can’t see what other customers are offered or the general public. They are shrewd company every time discounts drop off I have to call them within the week they do. To strike another deal. If you call earlier than that they’ll say they don’t have a deal right now. As for Sony or whoever saying they’re not doing enough I think they’ve done enough with this data usage meter viewing your activity. It’s up to Sony or whoever to figure out on the end that is being sent out that copyright information to go after them. It’s kind of like Amazon sidewalk if you opt out which I do. I don’t need anybody walking by my home to be able to use my internet so they can briefly use it or a camera close to my home using my data I pay for that. At least Amazon gives you a choice to turn it off but they hide it in the system that most people can’t find or understand it even exists. But when I go over my data cap I need to pay Cox in blocks they do waive the first time overage how nice. Sooner or later Cox will probably get a encryptor to find out how and what I am using my VPN for. Maybe the public then can sue them for that invasion of privacy.
This is a copy of Cox Communications copyright infringement policy. How does the complaint process work?
There are companies that search the Internet, looking for evidence of distribution of copyrighted works. Once a company detects this activity, they record the title of the work, the date and time of the alleged infringement, and the associated IP address. The copyright holder or agent then sends a complaint to Cox, including the date, time, title of the copyrighted work and the IP address. Cox then forwards the complaint to the subscriber that was assigned that IP address.Could my Cox High Speed Internet service be disconnected?
Yes, if you do not take the necessary steps to stop your Internet service from being used for copyright infringement, your Cox High Speed Internet service will be disconnected, and you are responsible for any applicable early termination fees if you are under a term agreement. (Your other Cox services will not be disconnected, but any Cox service that requires an Internet connection, such as Cox HomeLife, will not function.)If my service is disconnected, can I sign up for internet service again later?
If your service is disconnected as a result of copyright infringement, you cannot subscribe to Cox High Speed Internet for a period of six months (180 days). After that time, you may subscribe again (additional installation or reconnection charges may apply). However, if after reconnection your Internet service is used again for copyright infringement, your Internet service will again be disconnected, and you may not be permitted to subscribe again. So for example if I watch a Sony movie from an APK. And connect to a server on my IPVanish which I’ve kept an eye on more because in the past when I’ve connected and could take up to 30 seconds to show the IP address which I’ve contacted IP vanish about was that my IP address was shown so I’ve had to disconnect and reconnect I contacted IP vanish about this but they’ve just told me to log out of the app and re-login but it has happened frequently again and also while using my app on My tablet this is something IPvanish has to fix and I will be contacting them again but what I was getting to was if I am watching something that is copyrighted and I didn’t pay for it for example Sony would notify Cox communications and Cox probably won’t just fine me I don’t know where you came up with that $50 fine I can’t find it on their website and their policy but aside from that they will eventually cut me off of my internet. And right now where I live in Las Vegas the only other internet that I can get with a hardwired choice is CenturyLink which will only give me I believe only 10 MBps download. Now I know that I commented briefly about them maybe encrypting my VPN and yes you were right it would cost them a lot of time and money. But it is still being determined in the supreme Court as to if Cox should do more to protect their copyrighted material. With time there is change and within this political atmosphere. There’s no saying never if our rights are infringed. And it just ends up that it’s part of Cox’s bottom line cost of doing business to satisfy these problems. You usually won’t find this copyright policy on Cox’s website you have to Google it first and then it will bring it to you on their website cuz they hide everything I’ve noticed. Even when they were offering free modems as upgrades for people who had a voip line with them. I appreciate your reply Miki and enjoy your knowledge and enthusiasm to help people that have questions on this site. In 2008 with my first laptop I learned about torrenting and just never did it and here it is years later and because of the internet growing so much there are legal border lines to access it. But even with real debrid which I’ve acquired. It still takes a lot of work to make sure that they don’t have my IP address and the file sharing I’ve used with them. So it’s all a fine line we are all traveling but things change I just don’t want to get caught on the short end of the stick. So knowledge is key. Sorry for such a long reply. Peace brother
Unless Miki is a ghost I don’t see him on this topic? So I’m kind of confused.?
I had a reply but deleted it as I don’t think @Snoopy123 got the point regarding a VPN.
With respect I totally got the point regarding a VPN. But it was just a small comment as to what I mentioned that the ISP provider will maybe do in the future with intercepting. Nobody is immune to them breaking the rules of our rights that’s why there is a court system. If your comment was left on there as I remember. Encrypting from my VPN app to the connected VPN server it still has to go to the ISP first so in my small comment what I meant is that the ISP will intercept it and encrypt it at their end before it goes to and comes from the VPN server.AJS1 mentioned he’s kind of confused. I guess if I wrote that a lot of people will be all over me cuz that’s what it seems like. I know a lot about everything in a little about nothing. My life does not revolve around Troy point insider but I do like to help people gain knowledge from people and give my input but when deleting things people don’t understand communication back and forth. I see this happening a lot and some people complaining that it makes it look like they’re talking to themselves to all and all a good night.
That was my point. They may know you’re using a vpn which is totally legal but will have absolutely no idea what you are doing on the internet with it active. My VPN even has deep packet scanning protection. So your concerns would only apply to those not using a VPN. So no disrespect but your worries are irrelevant as they can’t see what I’m doing. They can’t decrypt my traffic even with basic 256 bit encryption as they would need armed forces level equipment to do so. The money, time, and effort is not only beyond their means but beyond their financial ability, and they would not bother as for one individual as you aren’t rich, so it isn’t worth it just to give a notice you can ignore. You also don’t need to be concerned about the individual you are referring to with their comments nor why I deleted my comment. It’s for precisely this sort of tete e tete that I removed it. You don’t fully comprehend what a VPN does and why your worries shouldn’t be worries. Have a good day.
I was not concerned in any way as you mentioned three times or worried I simply made a comment that wasn’t even more than a sentence and this is what I get back. Also I fully understand what a VPN does. And as for what you call Tete it seems like that happens more than not I did not have to have anybody make more than what it was what I posted I was not asking for help. Good day
Wow. My comment was by no means designed to upset you and I apologize if you misinterpreted my comment and reasoning. My reply was my honest response from your post and I apologize that I took it to mean you were worried as that is how it seemed to me. I honestly was trying to help educate not agrivate. Good luck to you and your interactions with Cox.
