Court blocks $1 billion copyright ruling that punished ISP for its users’ piracy | Ars Technica
What is that about a hundred thousand per infringement?
Thank goodness none of this crap happens in Canada as of yet. The worst that happens if you get caught in a torrent for instance is that legally the ISP must forward the Copyright holders letter to you asking you to give yourself in and settle out of court. The ISP does not, I repeat NOT have to give them the info on who you are. What they did the last time I got such a letter about three years ago was tell me at the bottom of the email from them to just ignore it but if I didn’t it was out of their hands. Gotta Love Canada for so many things.
