Hi Team, I had a recent meltdown on my firestick and when I boot it I get a screen of text saying it is corrupt and select the factory reset option.
The challenge is the ‘cursor’ is stuck on the line about the factory reset option line and nothing I do on the remote will move it to the factory reset option below. My TV is not a smart TV so I cant think of an option of plugging in a keyboard. Seems I am stuck.
Might be able to trick the fire stick into resetting by plugging and unplugging the power 7 to 10 times quickly, ie at 1 to 2 seconds between cycles of unplugging and plugging the power. But why is it corrupt to start with?
Tried it but had no result, the corruption happened when installing a skin for Kodi, as a last resort I’ll call Amazon other than that it goes landfill me think. Thanks for your help
Recommendation: Ditch the stick and get a decent Android TV or stock android box. I ditched mine, (which was already jailbroken) in 2017 once it was clear the proprietary operating system, bloatware and severely limited memory made downloading and playing open source apps too big a hassle. You’ll be glad you did this.
Sorry about your luck. It’s rare a 4K Max goes bad but it does happen. I would contact Amazon and see if they might replace it for free. 4K Max are so easy to jailbreak, easy to configure, and very inexpensive. Their portability is an added bonus. If the OS won’t boot then there isn’t a whole lot you can do. Again sorry we couldn’t help.
Have fun and STREAM ON!!
Don’t know if this works in Australia, but I “traded in” a couple of corrupt sticks recently against a new one. The FireTV 4k Max is currently on sale for $35. You get a $3 - $7 gift card for your trade-in and a $20 discount of a new FireTV device. That’s $35 minus 20% minus $3/$7 for a total of $21 - $25 for a new Max stick!
