I am 70 and have been using jailbroke firestick for over 11 years. At first it wasn’t easy getting help, my adult kids didn’t even use firestick or kodi so no help there, but trials and errors kept me going until i found Troy and troypoint a few years ago. Now, with his help, its a piece of cake! I think young people just use pay-for apps or stream thru their phones and computers because upkeepping a device like firestick can be time consuming and hard if you don’t have a Troy to get you thru.
Not a guy I’m a girl… . And I hate to admit it, but sometimes I do get lazy and stumped and just start a new post. So I’m guilty occasionally lol. It’s like building a computer. If I get annoyed about something or can’t figure it out, I’ll walk away for a couple hours and as soon as I come back to it I fix it right away. Sometimes you just need a break to think. But to me, yes, Kody will always be a pain in the ass!
KODI user for over 6 years and it’s my go to for Movies/Shows along with RD + Trakt TV. Always has been. I’ve tried other Apps/APK’s but always come back to KODI. If you think it’s a pain in the ass now you should have seen it back in the day. Now all the Dev’s have much better programming tools and it’s much better and easier for them and the end users.
People age differently. For some, your paltry 60 years means bypass surgery or other serious medical interventions. For most, it is just a mile marker. But for many, most of the cognitive and other health issues do not manifest until the mid-seventies, as life expectancy is then calculated in single digits. I spent more time in a hospital in 2023, than in the preceding 76 prior years. That does not make me lazy, as you intimated, but it makes me conscious of how I am spending the hours and days which remain. Is it possible that much of the technology in use today began it’s evolutionary process decades ago? It is not only possible but almost certain.
Sorry for your health issues but your first post here and you think I’m personally attacking you? You certainly have missed the point of my post and since this is the very first time you have posted this topic was not meant for those like you since you aren’t saying “I’m old and not good with this stuff and asking for someone to spoon feed you info”. Anyway good luck to you
@BigRef
This post has often been painful to read. Topic is once again KODI. Kodi is difficult. Do you feel compelled or required to comment on every inquiry? If a question offends you, feel free to ignore it. If your compulsion to answer all questions overcomes you, perhaps one of the following would be helpful:
- Use the magnifying glass above, question answered many times
- Search Troypoint site, Your question is answered in detail with instructions
- After search and reading previous answer, get back to us with questions
- Don’t attempt KODI: Stremio, Syncler, Weyd apps are much easier
You are free to ignore my remarks 'cause heck, I’m Old and Need Help!
You are still a “Newbie”. I will turn 80 this year and I can still remember when Troy was just beginning and I was buying hardware from China. However, I must agree with you when it comes to the younger generation, they seem to throw it away and buy new or just give up when change occurs. I tell everyone it is a hobby and you have to be willing to change with the technology. Thanks for the rant. It should remind everyone that the answer is out there.
Yup, that’s be me…
We grew up in a generation of fixing things because of cost and because things could be fixed. Nowadays, we have a throw away lifestyle. Things are not made to last or be fixed. The manufactures would rather you did just go out and buy a replacement…built in obsolescence.
Absolutely spot on, I’m in my 60’s like yourself I research and install and set up everything myself. I love my sport and have created the necessary folder’s from all major worldwide providers for that particular sport. For example for cricket I have a unique cricket folder containing sky sports cricket, TNT, supersports etc. When the younger generation have been here they’re amazed how great the set up is, when I explain the importance of routine maintenance like rebooting the router, force stop clear cache, antivirus check and need for a VPN, they just switch off and say I couldn’t be bothered with all that. It’s like dealing with people who feel entitled and expect everything without making any effort themselves. It’s great what you said and I fully agree with you
I’ve been thinking about you wanting to watch Turkish dramas. If you set up Kodi then one of the options for movies and TV is languages. And in the options is actually Turkish.
I would highly recommend jayhawks video on setting up Kodi. He does a fantastic job on how to set up Kodi. Then he discusses The Crew, but there are still issues with The Crew so I would avoid that addon. If you don’t want to setup a Real Debrid account then Troy has a listing of addons that seem to work well without Real Debrid.
The link to jayhawks video is:Kodi Start2Finish.mp4 - Google Drive
Please ask if you have any troubles finding the Turkish links in one of the Kodi addons.
May I ask what issues you are seeing with The Crew. I’m curious because there seems to be daily posts about people having issues with it. I watch shows/movies daily using The Crew and have been for several months without any issues
Mark, the movie listings seem really limited. I’m referring to listings in the 2000-2010 range. It lists mostly unknown movies or little short videos that are also unknown. I do get the small banner, when I open Kodi, that all the providers are up to date and that I am running the most current version of The Crew.
It’s most likely just Turkish subtitles. Not the actual Turkish shows filmed in Istanbul with English subtitles.
I just downloaded an app called Telegram and I can watch all of them on this for free but I’m having the hardest time getting it to work on my firestick.
okay so your issues are with the content not any issues that The Crew is having. Gotcha. Yeah the older you go back typically the less content you will find. You might also try doing a search for the specific movie as well as these periods categories are not perfect all the time. I guess I never had that issue since I mostly watch newer shoes and movies. I don’t use Stremio (don’t like the user interface) but lots here do. You might want to give it a try and see if you are getting more older content
i’ve never used kodi and i’ve been able to watch whatever i want? it’s not how you do it? it’s what works for you
I have Turkish options with most iptv providers. That would be the easiest.
I don’t know if you can name them here? My next move is paying for one and it’s not cheap…
I sometimes frequent French movies as I did take quite few years of french in High School. Plus my many generation of family from Quebec. The movies are all in French.
