My running mate is in the hospital for at least another 90 days before he starts rehab. Their TVs source/input cannot be changed. So I’m trying to find out what I need to buy so he can use his firestick on a cable input TV?
is there a cable box with an hdmi?
If it has rca inputs just buy a converter.
Here’s a link to some vids that explain how to convert hdmi to analog tv. If it has the inputs on the back of the tv & you want to get one…don’t pay more than around $10 for the converter.
So you can’t connect a Firestick to it. Get him a small flat screen TV or an android tablet and use that. I take it they have wifi there and they’ll let you use it to stream videos?
Guess I missed that part
I was thinking, if this is a hospital tv then yes an android tablet is a great option. Actually the fire tablet 11 inch had a great picture. Just need wifi or a hotspot, headphones or maybe a bluetooth speaker and all set…
I think it would take something I’m not even sure exists. I will look into it though. I’m picturing how we hooked up the old VCRs, putting it on channel 3 (since no input function available). So HDMI to RF adapter? (I think that is what it is, or would be called? Lol)
Y’all are going to think I’m off my rocker here but what about this…I know it is a long shot it would even work, but I hate to give up on a challenge. The Firestick hooks into the HDMI In/RCA adapter. The RCA plugs go into the RCA/RF modulator switch and then a Cable goes from the RF to the same cable post in the back of the analog TV. Set it for channel 3 and voila…maybe?
Not really off the rocker stuff … if you have rca plugs its a go
Well thats why I have the two links…2 adapters, working perfectly in tandem? Famous last words. I think I need to sleep it off, I’ve lost it lol. I feel like Marty McFly
Probably won’t work. Hospital TVs are usually set to “Cable” channels and frequencies, not “OTA” (RF) channels and frequencies.
Yep…& therein lies the reason for him not being able to change the input…basic cable set up with basic ISP cable remotes. Altho, another thing @Pearlhorse could try is to get a cheap universal remote & sync it to the tv…then when he has control of it, change the input & hook up an hdmi to analog converter.
Well then I think I’m out of ideas lol. Used up all my brainpower for that extravagant invention.
Who knows…ur Dr. Frankenstein invention may work perfectly well…I can’t say it won’t, I’ve never tried it.
By the time you get done messing around you’ll realize the tablet is the way to go lol. Converting to RCA will reduce quality. Might as well stream everything in 480p. Get a cheap tablet with a cover that doubles as a stand and put it on the bedside table.
