Set up a new Google TV this week. In the process looked for a way to link the tv directly to movie/tv files (sourced through 18 Best Torrent Sites in July 2023 (Free, Safe, & Working)) stored in the cloud so that I can play them without the first downloading the files to a USB drive, plugging it into the tv and playing from the USB.
I found the Solid Explorer File Manager app in the Google store, which links Google/Android streaming devices to different cloud storage locations (my files are on Google Drive). The app also functions like ES File Explorer. Files play directly from the cloud on the tv through the app. No more worries about limited storage for large video files on the streaming device itself.
Interesting. Thank you for sharing. I was wondering, if you know, can the Solid Explorer File Manager play videos from other storage location urls of your own choosing? Like for example, if I had videos stored on archive.org would I be able to add that directory and play from there?
Thanks for the reply… I appreciate it! What I’ve been looking for is a standalone app for Android that will play videos from an online open directory, exactly like the Kodi addon (Open Directories) used to do. Will give this a try and see what happens. Thanks again.
I tried adding an http open directory using the WebDav option, but it wouldn’t connect and gave me an error. The dreaded red X!
Oh, and when I clicked the Download More option it just takes me to the Google Playstore. LOL
