Is it necessary to have a maintenance tool like open wizard if I clear the kodi cache before each use with my device settings. I use a 4k max.I haven’t had any problems at all using just 3 add ons, so was just wondering .

Maintenance is always a good idea for any box or stick. A lot of people here are using apps like SD maid Def Squid and fast task killer are just a few. Preventative maintenance is always the best in my opinion

I don’t have a maintenance tool and like you, I do all my maintenance manually. I clean the cache daily on all my apps and addons, and if something is running in the background that shouldn’t be, I just force stop it. I have had no problems in several years with my android device or any of my apps. So, I will not be installing any maintenance program.

When I had kodi I always used open wizard, not just for the cleanup, that does more than you can simply by clearing cache, but also for the preset optimizing files for things like low RAM devices which Firesticks certainly are.

I just do it manually once a week, and the add-ons too.

That does a superficial clean, but with a stick you need a full clean to keep as much of the sticks space as possible, otherwise over time it adds things clearing cache doesn’t remove.

Open wizard or another cleaner is, in my opinion, a necessary tool in Kodi, and I’m not a Kodi user. Use to be but not any more. But, of course, the decision is yours.

No point clearing the cache in Kodi, it fills right back up again to the tune of about 90MB. Clear it and it will be back up to 90MB on the next usage!

I clear it on my firestick each time before I use it and I’ve never had any problems.

I used open wizard and set it to do a cleaning every time I opened Kodi. Did a great job in keeping my Firestick as free of Kodi junk as it could be. A must have IMHO.

Its important to keep your firestick clean and maintained especially using kodi, so always clear it regardless.
Also i dont believe kodi is the best choice for firestick users. Firestick max truly benefits from syncler, streamio and apps like that. I use kodi with seren on everything aside from the stick.

Definately not a full build. Just kodi with a couple of addons works good, especially with added storage. But as Dracoo pointed out, it’s not that good on the sticks limited resources and you don’t get the full experience of a build.

I did what I call a mini build using Amber skin with just Ezra, Crew , and Mad Titan Sports. Customized it to my liking and haven’t had one bit of trouble. I guess I’ll give open wizard a try. I’m just a little timid about having too many builds.

that’s just the repository, sorry. They may not continue with the maintenance of it any more. Search them.
