Check this Streaming Box out

Has anyone tried this one. It looks similar to the ONN model. It’s from Aliexpress

I’ve never heard of a ‘Mortal TV Box’ but just at first glance it looks like a cheap Android TV box that won’t last long. As long as you don’t have high expectations let us know how it works!

Hey friend, I do not own one of these but I did a bit of a dive on some of these similar products in the Ali Express store.

In my opinion these are really closer in build to a faux mini pc. There are a few concerns I would have buying one of these. First, a lot of these are using a “Rockchip RK3518 Quad Core Cortex A53” or something similar and this CPU is a lower performing cpu, limited to older codecs, and only basic AI support. The Walmart Onn 4k Plus for example uses a Amlogic S905X5 which is better in almost every way possible but you will be hard pressed to find many options on AliExpress in the sub $30 dollar price range.

Second, I would be very interested to see what sort of cooling is being implemented in such a small form factor. Then you get into what the specs for the ram installed are, and in my experience with retro game systems from china you may not find the hard drive to be extremely reliable if not requiring a full replacement.

For the price it is worth trying out but you likely are going to end up with very outdated hardware so it all depends on what you plan to use this for, if it’s streaming I would suggest a lot of other options instead.

Thanks for the information. I need a couple of ONN Streaming boxes but I will just have to wait or maybe try the USB Flash dirve which it seems they have plenty in stock. Thanks again, I really appreciate your reply.

@Franksr , if ya gotta have one, ya gotta have one, but I don’t think you’ll be happy, itz a sub par device, wifi 5 :grimacing:…etc, etc, etc…, but thatz just me…

I’m convinced you are correct.

Thank you

Dont buy it, that does not have the stated specs, it will probably come with 1gb ram and 8gb storage. Performance will be very poor.

Are you wanting certified or non certified box?

I just ordered two ONN Streaming boxes online throught Walmart and to my surprise they had them in stock and should arrive today…keeping my fingers crossed. Thank you

Hi, I’ve had one of these for about 3 months, and it’s been working fine.

I

I would like to add that I live in Australia and can’t buy an onn.

Yes, the ONNs I just bought were $24.88 each, probably the cost of shipping to Australia would

be expensive. As long as it works is what matters.

@Franksr , i have one of the original basic Onn 4K’s, and it is still serving duty as the bedroom box, cranking right along, and sometimes the wifi is faster than the main Onn 4k Pro in the livingroom…go figure…

Buyer beware! Alixpress ripped me off big time. Check your credit card statement to see if they charged the same price you bought at. Do not use PayPal !!!

If you are going to buy a cheap china box better to use Amazon than AliExpress. There are tons of cheap china boxes that work great. When I first started streaming I had 2 T95Z Plus boxes that worked great for years. Still work I’ve just moved ONN

If you don’t like it you can drop it on the counter at Whole Foods and instantly get credited. With Ali it might take weeks to get to you never mind the headache of a refund or return

These cheaper boxes are usually slow, and the specs are not true. If they have USB ports than it will have plenty space for storage, but it is CPU that needs checking out.

This box appears to be one of those “you get what you pay for” boxes. The only drawback I have seen in the new boxes, particularly the Onn 4K Pro 2026 version is the wifi speeds. The video, audio and memory performance are acceptable but it needs the wifi capabilities of at least the Nvidia Shield Pro and that is 7 year old tech. A good gig speed wifi is all it needs to replace the shield pro.

a cheap box with 8gb ram, have you seen the price of ram lately :joy: ..ddr3 maybe. Rockchip makes some really good boxes, Ugoos has some, but this is real old. Buyer beware.

I purchased 5 units from Ali Express. They advertised them as Android.14 with specs of 8GB/128GB. I received 5 items with Android 9, 2.4Wifi. Filed a complaint with Ali Express and the denied my claim against the seller but reimbursed most of my money. Definitely would not recommend using this service.

Sorry this happened to you. Not sure where you live but if anyone is in North America they should NOT ever buy anything from Ali Express especially having Amazon as a reputable site for purchases and very easy returns.

i have tried several of their boxes, so far all inferior to a ONN nox , they asked me not to use the word counterfeit.
