Black Screen In Tivimate

I didn’t see this particular issue in any of the other posts, but if you need to merge it, please do.

I opened Tivimate and there was nothing there…lost everything. Not sure how that happened, but no big deal. Rather than use a backup, I decided to add my two providers again. Now, when I choose a channel and the small preview comes up, I press select and I get a black screen for 3-4 seconds. It always happens on the first channel I open, and sometimes happens when changing channels. This never happened on the previous setup.

I’m thinking I missed a setting while setting it up. I did chose “stay on menu when changing channels”…but that didn’t fix it. Any help would be appreciated.

Try long pressing the back button when the preview is showing and see if it then opens to a full screen.

Don’t forget to go into the Android settings and force stop the app and clear cache, along with what Miki said.

The first time I tried the long back, the full picture appeared then went to a black screen. The second time it went right to the full picture. Like I mentioned, it happens all the time on the first picture and hit and miss on changing channels after the first one.

Thank you, I will do that …this is on an Nvidia Pro.
Edit: I did force stop and cleared the cache …still gets a black screen.

I am also using the Nividia Shield Pro. Not had that issue. I am trying to think of what may be doing this. I assume you have activated Developer options.

I believe I have…nothing on the Shield has changed. Don’t know why my epg disappeared, but I think I have all the settings the same as the first time I did it.
Edit: developer options are enabled …

Very odd indeed. Short of deleting it once again, then reboot the Shield without it installed to clear any stacks, then reinstall. I know that’s a royal pain but somewhere the system sounds like it got corrupted.

Good advice, thank you … it really is a pain. Maybe over the weekend I’ll try that.

Ok. PM me if you want to check your TiViMate settings against mine.

Check this setting in tivimate:
Remote control/Player/OK

Thank you …I do have that setting checked.

Check this setting on your Tivimate. Don’t know, but it’s worth a shot. You might just have a bug in the app’s download. You can always try an uninstall/reinstall.

Thank you …I just looked at that setting. Not checked. Do you think whatever caused my Tivimate to loose all the listings may have put a bug into it? I didn’t change the Tivimate when I reinstalled my two providers.

Personally, and imho, you are experiencing an issue I have not seen mentioned before. So, I would most likely just uninstall Tivimate and do a reinstall.

Make sure you do a backup of your playlists. Even if you input your playlist manually again. It’s always good to have a backup.

Also, if the problem persists. You can always revert back to a previous version of Tivimate that you were happy with.

I haven’t done a backup and reinstall yet. I’m using ExPlore and a flashdrive. I know how to back up, but when I install, do you just click on the backup file and it will auto install your programs? Do I have to eliminate the Tivimate from the app manager as well or just leave it and it will automatically recognize the Shields as before?

Go to Settings>General>Restore data> and choose an option, usually Select local backup and find the folder your backup was saved to.

Its always good to do regular backups and note that older versions of tivimate backups are not recognized by newer versions of tivimate. If that issue happens you will need to restore to and older version. Best option is do a complete new install, insert all your subs, organize everything as you like and make a new backup. …jus’ sayin’

Sounds like that’s the answer … do I delete it from Tivimate Manager as well? Or will it see it as a new install as I log into Tivimate?

easiest way is yes, delete it completely and start over fresh.
