I’ve been searching for a replacement for Cinema since it went T_ts Up a couple of years ago. For a while, it was TeaTV, BeeTV or FilmPlus. Sadly the developers chose to riddle these apps with so many ads that they basically became unusable. Onward and upward - to FlixVision and OnStream. Unfortunately, Flixvision makes you jump through impossible hoops with its mouseless navigation unless you are lucky enough to find a “direct stream”. And Onstream has a very (!) limited user interface and streams. What to do?
Well, guess what: The latest incarnation of Cinema HD3.3.3 is actually pretty good. While the number of links is still limited, the user interface is great and what streams it gets are usually pretty good.
Why the “without Real Debrid” caveat? Well, most of the people I help out with Firesticks for free TV can’t/don’t want an RD account or VPN - not just cost but complexity, too (they aren’t geeks like most TroyPoint Insiders).
And for what it’s worth, if you do have an RD account and VPN with Cinema, it’s almost as good as Stremio!
I’m very reluctant to try the non-debrid servers again, they just seem too erratic as in always buffering, I’ll just do fast before dealing with constant buffering.
For sure stremio is pretty sweet, if I had to be nitpicky, it doesn’t always come up with any results on a search of some older or not real popular movies, and sometimes there just isn’t any seeding for those either, but it’s a fine app. and easy to use.
Agreed. Less common or popular movies or series can be hard to find viable sources for, but that isn’t just a Stremio issue, it’s across all apps. There are some speciality apps that fill that niche, but even then “old” stuff can be hard to find sources for. For me, I never watch old stuff and never rewatch anything I’ve already seen except on the very rare occasion. So Strmio has been my go to for years.
It has been mine as well. In the event there are not enough seeds for a series that is older, I just revert to downloading it and I don’t care if it takes days and days. I then just stream it from a laptop using a free media streamer I’ve spoken about many times here. https://serviio.org/
I’ve been using it for years. I use an older version. They should all be there. It works flawlessly. I either use the DLNA incorporated into my older LG tv, but mostly just revert to X-plore that streams any possible video type. It’s my favourite part of the app.
