RD seems to be working great for me right now thanks to Troypoint recommendsations. I did get Premize just in case because my RD is about to expire. Now that Amazon Pay has been removed, what is the safest and most secure method to pay for these services? Should I use a store purchased VISA Card instead of my own credit card. I have never used crypto currency but I wonder if this is a good, easy option? TIA
I still need to check with it but Bank of America I believe allows you to use a virtual card. I’ve read something about it haven’t used it yet. But thinking on getting real debrid again for a short period always go for 3 months in case they go bust.
I’ve been using my credit card that excepts overseas subscription,so far so good.
I don’t trust real debrid after their comments to customers were bad like handing over your streaming information to authorities as Troy point stated. I used to use Amazon pay with them but now that they don’t accept it anymore. I will probably end up checking with my Bank of America where they issue you a virtual card number that will use my main account this way they will not have my card on file. I don’t trust them. So if they pull any shenanigans with my virtual card that is issued I can block it. I heard in the future that all email accounts will be this way where they will issue you a virtual email address so you can isolate who is selling your information and block them and that virtual email address. My bank does allow overseas charges I have it set up to text me if that happens sometimes there’s a small charge for that added. From your bank. I’m just not into the other forms of payment so I’ll have to look online on my bank site or maybe have to try one of those other alternatives to get it real debrid that is. I was born the same year if that 1965 is birth year. Cheers
I seem to recall using an alias email and paypal.
@jssmithjr …just an FYI…most if not all of store bought visa cards are for U.S. purchases only…it states so on the package or card…
Been using Real Debrid with my credit card and my real email address for more than 5 years now. Just an FYI there are way too many paranoid people on this forum
E:mails are already that way. I have Proton and can make up my own email address (aliases) for each purchase or sub I make. Then if the supplier goes down hill I simply delete that address and never use it again. I use my CC for all payments and occasionally PayPal. I have my CC account configured to immediately send me a txt and e:mail when a transaction occurs. That way if I get a message that a transaction has taken place and I didn’t do it, then I can contact them and get it reversed and get a new CC number if needed.
I recommend using a paid-for-card such as visa or mastercard from Walmart? I’ve been using their card for over 3-4 yrs now. It only lapse to pay w/RD over the last 12 months. So, i resorted back to my credit union. In which i had to get clearance every 90 days LOL. That was for @ $10 ea phase. So far the premiumize acct is working and the movies and tv shows are continuing. Life is Good '25!
Same for me, never had a problem
I recommend getting a free Protonmail email address. If anything were to happen, they’re based in Switzerland and will NOT hand over any private info to authorities. They advertise that they do not keep logs, anyways.
I knew they had some emails that way already. I said all will be that way in the future. I have four email accounts only two are mainly used AOL I’ve had since dial up internet. I don’t like to get texts for every transaction plus I don’t leave my phone on all the time. As for reversing charges once my father’s credit card # was stolen and was used in Mexico at a resort approximately $500 was held up for two weeks before it was reversed by Bank. Years ago his rent check was stolen out of RentalOffice box and somehow cleaned up and reused at Walmart a person went on a shopping spree even made copies of check and went into Bank of America and made it out for cash and they gave them the money. He had to open up a new account then and it held up his money for weeks. And the bank was so stupid when he got his money back they put it right in the account that they stole it from to begin with. So I wouldn’t trust banks and don’t freely give my credit card information to anybody. If there are alternatives I will use that. Thanks for your info Miki. PS AOL does not create virtual emails yet.
I have enabled my CC to immediately send me a txt as well as an email after every transaction it is used for. So if it gets stolen the very moment it’s used I can immediately block it, contact the CC company, have the transaction blocked and reversed and a fraud investigation begun, and begin the issueing of a new CC that I get in less than a business week. I am very proactive with my security. The card gets deactivated immediately and can no longer be used.
same here since 2015
I typically use my Capital One Visa card for online purchases. You can assign a virtual card number to any vendor and it only works for that specific vendor. That way if anything goes fowl I can easily delete that particular virtual CC number. No need to cancel your real CC number and reissue a new card, which is a major hassle when it is setup to pay other multiple automatic bills.
Over the years a had to replace probably a half dozen physical cards because of thiefs. The virtual card numbers solved that problem.
Not only what @Quincy said, but you can lock the virtual card after the purchase to help keep anything from going fowl.
I use Amazon and pay them on the Amazon web site.
Almost all credit cards have virtual cards available.
Agree Miki: This is what I do with my MasterCard which usually works fine. But, I have had fake transactions intercepted twice. The problem is you have to wait to get the new card in the regular mail which can take up to 5 business days and your account is deactivated until the new one arrives.
